Does you must have 3DMax for install the Corona Stand alone, or it's really a Standalone?
pilou,
3D max is not needed in order to use Corona Standalone, I use it with Blender and the Corona render exporter (mentioned in my comment above), but the standalone is quite limited compared to the plugin for 3D max...

Ok thanks a lot! I am a Cinema4d user (and sketchup modeler) but I was thinking about migrating to Blender. I will see. Do you acutally think they are going to develop the standalone version in the future or they will be more interested in developing the 3ds/cinema/big-commercial-softwares versions? Because I heard the standalone lacks some important features at the moment (for example, if you're putting a texture into a material and you want to slightly change the saturation you have to do that with another software, therefore saving another texture, then coming back to corona...)
If you are a max user I guess you can understand me wellthanks!
archbit88,
you are welcome! I do all the modelling in Sketchup and then export to blender when it is the case that I'm using Corona (I am more a SU modeler and a Maxwellian), the good news for you is Corona for Cinema 4D is the next in line...
https://corona-renderer.com/corona-alpha-v1-2-for-cinema4d/
you heard well, you can not for example change saturation of a texture, the standalone is quite limited, but still you can get great results out of it, in a very short render time
beside 3D max and now C4D, seems that they are not interested to start integration with other package soon... they currently have a poll, which 3D soft to integrate next, and SU is ranked 3rd right now

Impressive works! Congratulations! I'm totally new to Corona, but do you think there's a way to export from sketchup directly to the Corona Standalone software, without passing through Blender? Could be a silly question, because I don't really know how the standalone works
Thanks!
Hey archbit88!
thanks for your comment, I'm affraid that it is not possible to export from SketchUp to Corona Standalone, cause it does not exist an exporter...
I use this exporter here:

Mate, I'm impressed!! Could you show us what you mean about an angle map?
I've really fallen behind with my Maxwell skills having neglected to upgrade for a bit, I really need to seeing this!
Hi Richard!
sorry for the delay...
this is the anglemap I used for the experiment, I did 2 copies of the same map applying blur filter at different values in photoshop to generate more variants...
I attached 2 images to compare grass with and without anglemap, and a screen capture with the Maxwell grass parameters used...

Richard, thanks! Im glad you like it!
The angle maps is applied to the maxwell grass parameter 'initial angle', the map is an RGB map, where red, green and blue correspond to the axis X, Y, Z, that way the grass grows in the direction determined by the angle map.
The angle map I used is created using a photoshop action on a black and white image, the photoshop action can be downloaded here:
http://support.nextlimit.com/display/tuts/Grass+Tutorials
I have no access to my computer and files until next wednsday, then I can show you the angle map used

I really like it too mate! Though I'd have probably put more polys in the foreground shaping to smooth it a bit!
Example of what I mean!

Thanks Richard for your comments! Thats a nice example image buddy, the idea of using the terrain shape as a low poly triangulated mesh is to get a more abstract feeling...

Hi guys
I was experimenting with the grass extension of Maxwell render standalone plugin for SketchUp, here come some results, to achieve the angle variation of the blades I used an angle map, rendered within SU with the free version of the Maxwell plugin

For my first encounter with new clients I send them preview images at a resolution they can not use. Sometimes I will even send a drawing or image with watermarks all over it.
When they have paid the whole money, I send the complete work or the full resolution images. By sending very low resolution stuff you are proving you have done the work without just giving it away. It seems ludicrous to have to do this, but I don't trust anybody until we've worked on at least a few jobs together.
Sorry to hear about your problem and thanks for the "name and shame".
Hey how about I give them a call, get them to do some feasibility studies for me and I never call them back? In fact I'll call them tomorrow if you like and ask where your payment is, they won't be expecting someone from the UK to start asking too.
thanks Olishea for the offer, I am waiting for an answer from the collection agency, and then I will see what to do...
my mistake was trusting in McDermott and not asking for money in advance
anyway I really appreciate your offer to call them

I work on a pay to play basis... They pay and I play. I require people to pay in phases. Sketch, Preliminary and the Construction docs. They pay at the beginning of each phase. It might seem harder to get work that way, but people who are not willing to pay up front are not serious enough for your time.
thanks Krisidious for the advice, I also read about people asking for 30-30-40 percentages for Jobs

Use this....

Usually sorts out con-artists from the beginning.
Thanks Rich for the heads up to the agreements link, I should think on a variant of the offer adapted because Im based in Sweden.
my mistake not asking for money in advance, Im a 'salary slave' and this was my first 'online' freelance job, I used to freelance quite often but always with people face-to-face and never had a problem
thanks guys

nice work Neets,
may I ask are you using the standalone plugin or the Maxwell Suite??
thanks Hieru,
yes it is a pain loosing about 2 months work this way...
about the fees, I think that the collection company will charge 10%, but honestly I dont want that those visuals are going to be for free to these people...

Hi guys,
after several months that I completed a freelance job for a developer based in Oxford UK and surprise surprise he has not paid the invoice.
the developer (client) and the architect seemed quite happy with the work when it was delivered early january.
I have been constantly emailing him (he is not answering my phone calls) and I received just promises like 'tomorrow/next week payment will be settled', but the invoice is still unpaid, so now the pay debt collection agency is taking over...
make yourselves a favour and avoid this people:
