Thanks mate, I get it now. Must be my old eyes.
That and the apartments I have been producing are 15' wide by 15' or 30' or about 4.5m X 4.5m or 9m.

No intention to criticise but, how are you going to fit three bedrooms and a bathroom on a second floor in what looks like a single level apartment/bungalow?
That is something which should not be required now, not since v7 afaik.
OK, I get sketchup 8 (free) crashing and report the issue, the response window which opens tells me the issue has been resolved with the latest release and I should get the latest release. I check and get a report that I have the latest version. E|ither sketchup is a lying dog or it is pontificating and I do not have the latest version, what is a bloke to do? Not happy with the program crashing whenever I do anything but not able to do much because the reported solution is pants.
Perhaps I need pencil and paper methodology with this one.
I have several cars at a certain stage but it is such a tear your hair out process I get to the point of just giving up most of the time. The inconsistent responses of various plug-ins do not help, that and the memory issues of a 32 bit program.
Tanks are a bit easier for the most part but subjects like the Chieftain and others with compound curves are much as cars.
Call me a cynic but, the problem is not just google sketchup developers. Just about every company out there will take the wishes of their marketing department/group over users EVERY day of the week. One direction in which software is developed, just not for the better of the (should be) major interest group (users).
On a related topic (oil drums), has anyone got a good blueprint for an oil drum 55 gallon? I have been looking for a while but come up with nothing usable.
Hi,
I am aware that folk have wishes along similar lines, I just decided to stick my ten pence worth on the page in case someone is reading these missives. Perhaps if enough of us say this enough times, we might get somewhere.
Yes, unlikely but worth a short as all it costs me is a little time.
OK, I know this is unlikely to get anywhere but here goes my 10 pence worth.
Clipping is a pita, is it possible to come up with a proper fix that we can all use to make it easier to zoom in to the smaller parts of models?
Zoom issues, is it likely that a fix can be made so zoom origin is locked to the model worked on at the time of zooming? I am aware the biggest problem here is that with an infinite workplane, the mouse will often lock on to a point way off the current focus. This will also improve the rotate around model feature and prevent this being a problem.
64 bit code. The usual reason applies here, issues of sketchup crashing the (usually) rendering program when a larger render is under way.
Arcs, curves, whatever you want to call them they have a habit of degenerating to lines which is a pain in the arris, can it be arranged so that this does not happen? If exploding a group or component it would be nice also, to chose whether curves are degenerated or left complete.
I am not saying these things to p155 folk off, I am trying to make suggestions to improve the product only. Please do not be over sensitive but instead take the requests on their merit. Thanks.
OK, broken the problem down, it is apparent that quite randomly, sketchup is breaking an arc (curve, whatever you want to call it) into its constituent lines. I know of the weld tool but frankly this is getting too much. Is there a way to stop this from happening or is it an inherrent sketchup problem? This occurs BEFORE I do anything else with the geometry.
Really nice work there, are you going the full monty with hydraulic and electircal services? A very daunting project, going nicely.
Just about the most frustrating thing about sketchup (IME) is the way curves seem to degenerate at will. I know, no intent, it's just a program. I would like to maintain the integrity of arcs or curves when I am drawing. The constant faffing about with degenerating elements like this is driving me up the wall. Just as I am getting somewhere the whole damn thing falls over and it seems totally absurd.
And breath?
No, not going totally off my head, just a really frustrating day and I know it is not going to get any better..........
Perhaps sketchup v 250 will be better in this respect...........
Do we not all LOVE file corruption, something from childhood springs to mind about being sent to try us. It was VERY succesful in this case. Tried again, something with cleaner and sharper lines but to my mind it comes across as a mustang coupe want to be. Oh well, car designer I am not.
When I am putting arcs in place, the arcs often degenerate into lines so I cannot select the arc, but must select each individual line. Driving me up the wall. Not even the nearest wall.
OK, I can get curviloft to create many of the shapes I want but the arcs I use keep degenerating into lines, how can I prevent this degeneration?
Nice work Marcus, very cool piece of kit, I reckon you could sell those with an led light. I'd have one if the price was right.
