8 Pro v 2015 Make
-
Hi all,
I've had to take a bit of a back seat with my SketchUp for the past year/18 months - why didn't any tell me how much time/money/energy having a baby has?!
Anyway, I'm now at the stage where I have the odd hour to myself of an evening so I have more time to spend on SU.
My current set up is SU8Pro, which is now obviously out of date. I plan to buy SU1025 Pro when I get my bonus from work in October but in the mean time, is it worth sticking with SU8 for a few months or getting SU15 Make to tide me over?
Your expert thoughts are greatly appreciated.

SU Make versions are for a non-commercial usage only... sothat this may already end thoughts in this direction.

It's up to you, but you can have both installed alongside each other and SU2015 will give you a 1 month pro trial to begin with.
So you can use Pro 2015 for a month, then use Make after that and save back to SU8 Pro when needed until such time as you get your bonus. By which time you will have be able to see if it is worth it for you to upgrade.
Personally I don't think you'll decide to stay with SU8.
Make sure you install the free version and not the pro or you will have issues when the month is up.
Don't copy plugins from SU8 to SU2015, install all new as many have been updated to work with the new ruby version. -
If you bought SU Pro 2015 before 30/07/2015 you could have had it as the old price, new price is quite a bit higher (US $700 now).

Thanks guys, comments are appreciated.

owning a SU v8 Pro license already an upgrade (plus reinstatement fee) is sufficent, no need to buy a new full license.

*Please note, there's a $60 Enrollment fee if upgrading a SketchUp Pro 8 or older license, or if your Maintenance and Support has lapsed more than 30 days.
If I skip upgrading between versions and upgrade to 2015 instead, will I have to purchase a brand new, full price license?
No. If you skip upgrading for one year, you would pay an upgrade cost of $120 for single-user license or $200 per seat for network license, plus a enrollment fee of $60. The total cost will be $180 and $260 respectively if upgrading after skipping the upgrade for one year or more. -
