That's quite alright Gaeius. We at east know how to do this when it comes up.
That's the great thing about this community is that in looking for solutions to one problem may solve another for someone else, so all is not lost.

      Have a wonderful weekend!

    • RE: Curved_slanted_wall

My next challenge is to slope the top of the wall. That is the highest part would be at the smaller radius point and the low part would be at the end of the largest radius.
At first glance I thought I could easily draw a rect and slope the top and intersect this form with spiral wall but ofcurse this will not give the desired result. Any ideas?

edit: Maybe I need to do the top wall slope part before the scaling.

      Thanks Gaieus,

I don't see that your wall tilts outward. I'm also trying to get it to slope in the z direction as well.

What's the best approach for doing a curved tilted wall of giving thickness?
See file attached. Is there a good ruby script for this?
I'm tryin to get the wall to slant to the outside at a given angle.

    • Shaping ruby

I'm looking for the ruby that push pulled or resized a shape by pulling grips.
I can't seem to find the link or name of the Ruby. It was very recent. Does anyone recall the link?

The reason why I thought it made since was because sometimes colors are listed this way and it seems to make sense to enter info in 1 box vs 3. Photoshop has this flexibilty I just recently discovered.

    • RE: Intersect with model

      Thanks Tig,

I'm still confussed about how this would happen. I raised the floor up 4' to intersect with the su walls created in su and used intersect. I'm basically refering to the interior walls. It should have cut the floor plane with out these problems, no? πŸ˜•

So, in order to clean this up you only did diagonal lines? I'll give this a try.

      Thanks again πŸ˜„

If you look at the file, see how some lines are thick. This means that they are not cutting in the surface which is what I want to happen so that I can paint separated areas of the floor.

Here is part of the model, I can't easily get the planes to close. Frustrating 😞
I have had this problem with a site plan also. It's starting to really kill my confidence in su.

ok, maybe that's a little to dramatic πŸ˜„

      Hello fb,

Could you elaborate on how you created this shape. We are trying to expieriment with similar curvy, slanting and twisting forms. Your work is exhibiting some of the things we are trying to do.

      Thanks for pusing the envelop.

      Fletch,

What about the reverse Sketchup to Revit? Is there a plugin for this? I recall sometime ago there being a plugin for desktop. Have there been any advances?

      Thanks,

      Thanks Modelhead,

I tried the trace over and also intersect w/ model even. No luck. It's a case of su not playing by it's rules 😠

    • Intersect with model

Having a problem with intersect with model. In my example I made a floor slab and hoisted it up to where I'm sure it cut thru the walls and some areas did not intersect properly with the plane. I need the lines to cut into the surface so that I can paint the separations.
The intesection clearly happens but some lines do not separate the planes as it should. Is there a fix for this. Does anyone else have this problem? 😠

    • RE: ECKERT RESIDENCE

Made some slight color and material changes. Adjusted landscape. Update stone to siding transition. Fredrick, I followed your instruction on the mask and still get the halo. I also used the masking tutorial from Fletch to do the mask. The first render was at same resolution of the mask, This time I rendered the mask at 2x resoultion and resized smaller in photoshop. What resolution should I make the original ie for 11x17 format at worst and computer display at best. I am look for a standard work flow. I know it will have finally have to be resized for this board as well unless I provide link.
