When getting an error like you could try to update your gfx-drivers. If you're really lucky that fixes it. If not, your gfx card maybe is really too old for the newer functions that Trimble added to v2017.
If you can, maybe you can you share your gfx-card / laptop specs?

RE: [Plugin] CleanUp
@Thom - I'm curious - when using CleanUp3, the operation collapses the Outliner-list. Its the same behavior as choosing 'collapse all' when right-clicking on the level entry (the file name). Do you know what causes this behavior?

RE: Section Cut Widths not showing in layout
Must be some problem on your end. I use the same latest version and the cut width is showing as intended (tested it by making it very large).

RE: 2017 M2
and better yet: I heard that the artifacts problem in LayOut on Mac are fixed with this update. Good news for Mac users!

RE: Bool Tools 2 released
Great Dale made this!
Too bad / strange though the SU team themselves never improved the native booleans. -
2017 M2
There's a 2017 M2 release available. Crossing fingers for Mac users the artifacts issue in LayOut is fixed...

RE: Laptop Specification Query
have you looked at the design of the Alienware? The specs are nice (gtx1070!) but with that design my clients would be 'surprised'.

RE: 1960s house designs
nice. You can never have too much MCM designs for inspiration.

RE: Final Documentation for BakeHouse Distillery
Great assignment, great design, great presentation... Great job!

RE: What Motivates You?
@ArcTeo: webdialogs have changed in the latest release. Maybe seems like a minor change but if your plugin depends heavily on webdialogs you could be in trouble.
Personally what motivates me is to automate repetitive tasks. The inspiration comes from working with SketchUp on a daily basis. Learning ruby and coding tools saved me a lot of time and resulted in more joy @ work.
When I get stuck, it's google-time. A lot of questions have been asked before at SketchUcation. Most of them even answered so that really helps. The official API used to contain quite some errors. I haven't been coding anything new in v2017 so don't know if that's better now.

RE: [Plugin] UVEditor 0.30
It used to work in V2016 - wonderful plugin. Have mapped quite some stuff with it. Too bad it wasn't developed a bit further.

RE: Old concept, new SketchUp
Interesting concept. Maybe embed the screen into the wall to make it look less fragile /ready to be stolen / more easy to clean?

RE: Laptop Specification Query
15,6"" with 1920x1080 -> sounds ok to me
The i5 4310M β> its from Q1 2014 (3 years old). Its a dual core that runs at 2.7Ghz and has turbo up to 3,4Ghz. For 6/7Mb models this should be fine. It all depends on your models though - the 6/7 Mb could be 1000 component copies of a 5Mb tree
If its a refurbished machine for a very very good price - I might consider it. If its a new machine I personally wouldn't buy a 3 year old cpu but get something more new (up to 1 year old tech).
16GB Ram -> fine.
AMD Radeon 2GB graphics -> no
256 SSD -> if possible make that 512 Gb. SSD's should have plenty of free space to function well. All depends on your current amount of data. Including OS, software, libraries and textures, you might need double that amount.

RE: Laptop Specification Query
The AMD Radeon 2GB graphics is something I personally would avoid like the plague. AMD gfx chips are notorious to give all kinds of problems (reported by a lot of users).
Some AMD chips function well though - you really have to look for information about this particular gfx chip to see if its running fine with SketchUp or not.
See the official forums as well, there are multiple threads there about this topic as well. -
RE: Best Free Screen video recorder
I'm no expert on OBS - I just looked at a video tutorial once and it worked. Don't have the link though. Just Google for tutorials.
Did you add a video source (see pic)?

RE: Annoying texture behavior
I noticed strange behavior (smoothing / clipping / glitches etc) sometimes can be related to a group. So exploding the group and making a new group with the entities might help. Easy enough to try.

RE: Best Free Screen video recorder
Have a look at OBS Studio. I have used it a while back and it worked fine for me.

RE: A few thoughts about the future of this planet
I fail to see anything remotely positive in DJT presidency: his cabinet of zillionaires, the interest
hehis family has in business (oil pipeline), bullying Mexico & Muslims, alternative facts, etc. 1 week down, 207 to go until the next election... -
RE: Realtime ArchViz: SketchUp to Unity Workflow
Interesting video's. Never had seen Unity in action - I use Unreal myself.
Have you tried importing more blobby stuff into Unity (like sofa's with cushions?). Would be interesting to see if Unity still can make good lightmaps for that. With Unreal, blobby stuff, straight from SketchUp, results in artifacts in lightmaps - even with high settings. The only solution is to add a Lightmap channel in Blender.

+1, I'm very curious about your workflow
