RE: [Plugin][$] FredoScale - v3.6a - 01 Apr 24
Question;
I use a custom quick menu and I would like to launch FredoScale-boxstretch. On this webpage (documentation section) the suggestion is to use this ruby command. See https://sketchucation.com/plugin/1169-fredoscaleF6_FredoScale.launch_action(action_code)
my action would be :StretchB
so the command isF6_FredoScale.launch_action(:StretchB)
I'm getting an error though
F6_FredoScale.launch_action(:StretchB) #<NameError: uninitialized constant F6_FredoScale::StretchBTool> (eval):1:in `launch'
etc etc.
Any thing I'm missing? Code has changed?I'm using
Platform: x64-mswin64_140 - Ruby: 3.2.2, Sketchup: 25.0.634, LibFredo6: v15.1a, LibFredo6 Binary loaded, SCFLicense: v6.4a - 74, FredoScale v3.6a - licensed FULL -
RE: Trying to install version 2023
There are several threads about this issue on the official Trimble forum. Seems like you have to temporary disable your WindowsDefender to 'fix' this. Some strange technical thingie I can't reproduce.
Unable to update Sketchup 2023 due to a MD5 checksum issue
Tried to update SU 2023 from version 23.0.367 Win 64-bit to 23.0.397 Win 64-bit on a Windows 10 machine. Install failed because MD5 checksum failed, and Windows Defender stop the process. I’m the only one?

RE: Sketchup 2023 is out!
Update 2023.0.1 was released on the official download page. It addresses a few bugs. https://help.sketchup.com/en/release-notes/sketchup-desktop-202301

RE: Is VERAS coming to SU?
Wow...impressive. Thanks for sharing this.
Imagine what a few years world-wide development and even more faster hardware will do with this tech;
- Use AI for generating optimal floor plans, elevations and sections for a given program
- easily create design variants
- nice renderings of course
How will the architects role in this change?
Interesting times... -

Just be aware that this fix won't last forever. I'm using it in one of my plugins and SU2022 is already warning me it will be deprecated in a next version of Ruby.

RE: Sketchup 2023 is out!
Underwhelming but not unexpected. I see no reason to update to 2023.
Now that everybody is on the subscription train, its no more letting your wallet speak for you by skipping a year (or two) until actual good improvements are added. Its pay up or you will loose access to your SketchUp files and you can't edit them anymore-time now.

BlenderBIM
Anyone already tried the BlenderBIM addon for Blender? Just saw the news they received some funding from Epic a few days ago. According to the press release, this will also be spend in 'creating a productive workflow capable of generating drawings and diagrams for commercial output'. Could be interesting!

RE: SketchUp 2021 release
v2021 - my 2 cnts - will test more when starting up a new project next week
- layer groups - why not implement scene groups at the same time?!
- smaller file size
- layout bug where SketchUp dimensions were 'cut' depending on the position on the paper seems fixed - hurrai
- prefer the old logo
- wishlist of 2015 (or earlier) can be copy-pasted again
...back to work

RE: [Plugin][$] Vertex Tools
Nice update and generous to give a discount to existing users.

RE: Warehouse closing ?
This will affect people who keep their classic license and don't go the subs way end of this year. Not that I will ever download 100 models a day from the warehouse but maybe some others do.

RE: How will the switch to subscription affect you?
Rhino & Blender:
Interesting suggestions/videos but in its current state to me it looks like it will take a lot more time and is much harder to do compared to stuff I do easily now with SU&LO.

If you learn Grasshopper (free extension integrated into Rhino), you will see that it is better than SketchUp user experience. You will get x100 in your workflow. Getting things in seconds instead of an hour.
But can you make 2d drawings/sections etc automatically from a 3d model as easy as when using layout?

RE: Strange Artifact While Zooming
that clippingplane plugin is a great hint indeed.
The SUteam never implemented the set near & far using ruby as you suggested in this topic or did I miss something in the api docs?

RE: The 10 plugins you install first ?
without a specific order - all installed in one go - can't work without any of them;
mirror
fredoscale
fredocorner
archiver
selection toys
cleanup
profile builder
ene-texture positioning
solid inspector
split to plane
and a few of my own plugins -
RE: SkecthUp 2020.1 - anyone using it already?

SketchUp works fine for me, but LayOut does not. I can't save a file if it has hybrid style drawing in it, and I can't generate a PDF. I have to turn everything into raster, then I can save and export PDF files. It worked fine in previous versions. I don't know if anyone else is having this problem?
You're installation is bugged maybe? LO drawing with vector + hybrid + images saves fine for me, also exports fine with native pdf export.
