@djohnson.nz said: Just to let you know I have resolved this issue by the age old method of experimentation. It turned out to be in the anti alias setting in the openGL capabilities window. I went through the four options (see screenshot) and the problem persisted until I got to the first on the list (no.16), on selecting this choice the problem went away. I have updated the driver as well and so far have encountered no further issues. will keep my fingers crossed. Just as an aside I am new to groups, although I have set up a profile with a photo it doesnt show up. whats up with that. Thanks for your help... Good to know you have it sorted out. If I were you I'd contact the administrator or a moderator regarding problems with your profile picture not showing.

I'm actually more interested in the low-power, low-heat Intel Atom and its variations. An Eeepc (the 901) with that chip came out the day before yesterday, to much acclaim. I may have to buy yet another Eee sometime in October when the next gen is due. http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20080602-atom-everywhere-intels-mid-netbook-and-nettop-strategy.html

i am old to Autocad & Photoshop but new to SU. Learning SU is easier but using it much tough and frustrating. Many of its feature have complete dependency on Plug ins and many yet to introduce. One of them is Unlocked Toolbar- Here you cant create User Interface profile too. and another is 2) Unable to create your own Hotkeys. Unlike AutoCad where you can create your own Hotkeys as per your use and convenience like i do have Hot Keys, R for rectangle, RR for rotate, RRR for render but here in SU you can use only one letter not more than that thus requires two fingers or two hands to use ALt or CTRL with letter. in AutoCAd i have clean screen but in SU screen is full of toolbars

After a couple of really short nights I'm finally done with the PC version. You're welcome to download a trial. I should also have it on our SA site before the end of the weekend.

OK, so I did some more digging. The setup I explained above will work fine, but it seems that two of the mentioned new low end machines will outperform the three custom built machines (some new parts some second hand parts) above, and will cost less than the three. My mistake the first time around. So guess which way I'm going... So it looks like I've solved the question regarding how well the setup will perform, questions regarding interoperability between OS's & KTe2008 versions remain. Topic over at the KT forum.

@vrai said: Hello there !! Kerkythea website has been closed for a while, and I desperately need some stuff from the site for my renderings. Does anyone of you still keep those libraries and would like to share them with me ? Thank you !! http://www.kerkythea.net/cms/index.php/downloads (the site is under rebuild, but some downloads are available) Correct forum links to earlier materials. Keep in mind that the post was from 2008! And sorry, no idea if those posts actually contain anything relevant as the repository is in different location and like said, some materials are still missing. Thx solo, that is good to know! I'm toying with CrazyBump at the moment, I was hoping one could assign these maps, created by some or other program, within SU (Pro) and thus have it be of more value to the professional licence owner.

Actually, ATI always insisted that they had full open GL support but it wasnt't true. Many of us had artefacts, including me, when dealing with even hi end ATI cards, in 2001 2002 when I started using SketchUp. ATI support swore they had full open GL support and Jim Holman from SketchUp support remained firm that they did not. I purchased and Nvidia card at the time and all artefact problems cleared. It was explained to me by Jim that ATI only used a subset of open GL at the time, that was necessary for gaming but not everything that was required for 3D modelling applications. So if your ATI card worked for you in 1998 perhaps you just had a fortunate configuration at the time. But I can assure you that it did not work in mine and in many many others.

I think this might have already been noted, but it is a cool post and neat mod nevertheless. I'm actually looking for something like one of the "typewriter with magnifying screen" computers from Terry Gilliam's Brazil (presumably not running "Windows Vista", although that would be in keeping for the totalitarian reactionary state depicted in the movie). I used to have a bookmarked site for someone who abused a Macintosh until it looked like that, but I've lost track of the address. On a related note, the local frame shop customized their flatscreen monitor by surrounding it with a customized tooled- and gilded-leather frame...kind of a "Baron Harkonnen" look. I'll see if they will let me take a photo. --Lewis poster-Lewis Wadsworth
