RE: Softened and Hidden Lines problem getting ridiculous
Don't quit man! You are too good to give up.
Take a breath, crush a grape or take a long walk.I have been where you are (No where near your talent) then started reading post from other S/W sites.
User paying 2-7 thousand and having the even bigger problems, version after version.I rant & rave and go looking for the better SU and eventually come slithering back here.
I got jumped on for my comments that printing in SU is like a leap back to the 80's.
Hang tough!

RE: Mid Atlantic Storm
So a tree come down on my nieces house on the front porch then a telephone crushes one of her cars (Not the new one)
Her neighbor next door didn't like the looks of the large tree in his front yard runs in, gets his kids, puts them in the car gets up the street and the tree comes down on the house crashing through the kids bedrooms.

RE: Trimble & Sketchup 64 bit

After reading this thread with great interest over the last week, the 64bit question seems quite emotive, perhaps because it in some way encapsulares the frustration which stems from uncertianty as to the direction Sketchup will take. A vague promise of an update sometime in 2013 does little to ease the dissonence.
Those more confident about a 32bit future seem quite defensive, moverover they also seem to be those closer to the development team, which in its own way can be taken as both reassuring and worrysome - i am sure the ambiguity is not lost on most. I get the distinct impression that for some this is a dicussion we are not meant to having.
Unlike some, I would place compatability and robustness above speed for Sketchup moving foward.
Apart from the discussion there are other indicators, the amount of advertising on here for render engines experesses the most obvious Sketchup functional shortfall, while the odd advertisement for Bonzai3d circles like a vulture awaiting either Sketchups demise or the fallout from all the uncertianty.
Perhaps a robust release of a Luxrender plugin and a plugin organizer as an interum update for both free and paid versions of Sketchup, together with a future roadmap for Sketchup would placate most, certainly me.
I was all in on your post till Bonzai3D, they haven't updated that producy at all in years!

Instead of fixating on a technical implementation, it's better to ask for the ultimate goal: better performance. There are many many ways to achieve better performance and the developers who has the knowledge of the SketchUp core knows best how to do that.
OK, these are the "core" things I would like:
I want render engines to be able to work inside SketchUp in 64bit mode.
I want to be able to open and work with polygon heavy scenes that make SU stall for up to 30 minutes just by opening them or bugsplat or mysteriously make soft/smooth edges hard.
I don't want SU to crash when exploding polygon heavy groups. -
Basecamp Silence
All should be back by now.
Couldn't wait for top dog reaction to what was seen & heard.
Either you are all still very tired or maybe disappointed.
What was your reaction to the Basecamp? -

Any word from Trimble on SU 64 bit? I know there has been much discussion in the past... however I haven't seen a response to this: My system IS 64 bit. SU therefore doesn't run worth a darn. I have been trying to get it to run in virtual XP mode, but can't seem to get good performance yet. Users with 64 bit systems need 64 bit support.
I have 64 Vista and very little problems. Very large drawing cause slow down.
Very rarely crashes . Unlike some 1 to 5 thousand dollar software I know -
RE: Can't see my model
When you say "Noticed my cpu was very active so I figured it was doing all the computations to complete the radial bending, so I waited until the cpu had calmed down, figuring my model would then reappear. And waited. And waited.
No model."
Do you mean Hard drive?
This happened to me and the hard drive kept going forever.
Finaly shut it down & re-booted and HD still going forever again but could still work on the pc.
Still slow till it finally calmed down.
Lost SU drawing at that point though.
Happened to me in VUE a lot, so stopped using it.
