When modeling, it is usually at the design development phase (of architecture) and although i may not think in those specific terms, the thought process is there: is the building's composition of elements in balance, are the materials (colors) used appropriately. When setting up a scene for exporting an image, I follow the same guidelines of composition I learned when everything was done by hand.

I use Painter X but still purchased ArtRage 2 because sometimes I just want to play instead of futzing with a lot of settings. My first doodle is attached, I hope. [image: Vn2d_blue-spills-into-gold.jpg]

Architectural Desktop 2005 but I'm thinking about buying Allplan by Nemetschek rather than AutoCAD 2008. Check Allplan out, I've seen it demonstrated, amazing

I see, the methods listed in the File class are actually defined in the ftools.rb file. Also, the docs recommend using FileUtils.rb over ftools.rb. Thanks. I was toying with the idea of cleaning up .skb and AutoSave files from the the user's model folder.

worth mentioning however that if you create a low resolution TIN and it has a complex shape (like you made it with Soap Skin Bubble, or you have cut it after stamping) you might get some problems. Therefore if the plugin had automatic smoothing either after or before creating it, it would be very good. Example... only move in the vertical vertexes that are at least 5 vertex from each other (or set a distance in meters instead of number of vertexes) and then the ones in the middle have their height calculate based on average/medians?

I never did understand why they named it "Ruby Ideas." Anyway, it never occurred to me to post there, but I'll try.

I tried your example script, and see the problem you see. According to the SU ruby docs: "Currently there are two behaviors defined. A page keeps a list of layers that do not have their default behavior. If a layer is not in that list, then it is set to its default visibility determined by one of these flags. LAYER_VISIBLE_BY_DEFAULT 0x0000 LAYER_HIDDEN_BY_DEFAULT 0x0001" The strange thing is that in commenting out different lines and trying the script again, LAYER_IS_HIDDEN_ON_NEW_PAGES is the setting that sticks - not LAYER_IS_HIDDEN_BY_DEFAULT. I'll report that to the SU crew.

Yet another lovely model. Thanks, Jim. By the way, Gaieus and Coen have set up a woodworkers sub-forum in the 'special interest groups' section at the bottom of the Board index. So if woodworking is your thing, that would be a nice place to visit.

@ecottechtchr said: Does this plug-in work in SketchUp 8? When I tried to install it from Window > Preferences > Extensions > "Install Extension", it won't recognize the file because it's .rb rather than .rbz. Thanks! plugins with .rb are no extensions and you only need to copy it in the right directory. More details from Thomthom...

I've stopped the plugin from performing the Undo operation (on my machine.) I just like to press the button; it doesn't need to do anything else. Thanks for all the comments everyone
