This is strange. I was going to put together a model showing how I intersected the plan. I started by drawing a box around the plan as drawn(2d). I then move/copied the the plan/rectangle and intersected all faces. Surprise, it was fixed. This does not work on the original. In my previous post I was referring to 3d block pulled up and down from the 2d rectangle. I selected all and intersected selected. This worked on the original plan but isn't required on the copy. I have no idea why, other than it may close some ends with vertical errors. I'd be happy to learn something here myself if anyone knows what's going on. Slightly confused SS

You can also try sandbox drape, but only if your pattern does not wrap all around. You'd lay the glass on it's side. 2d pattern, drape then use joing push pull to recess. In most cases (whatever methods) you probably want to first scale the glass 100 times too large and scale down after the application of the pattern.

I believe it would be easier to add the materials in SU then refine in PS.

These paths determine the folder in which Sketchup starts - e.g. when you say save_as a component, it first opens your 'default' components folder... You set these up for various 'objects' that you might want to 'export' out of your model, it's just a way of simplifying your navigation to the likely destination folder. If they have never been set [or the folder-path is no longer valid - e.g. you've renamed a folder] then I think that Sketchup assigns your Documents folder as its initial default, and of course you may well wish for your collection of saved-components to be somewhere entirely different...

Hi Pilou, hi folks. It is only at works that many things are blocked or restricted. Just ideas.

Hi Jase (Jason?) and welcome! @jasemilly said: Hoping to learn lots and not ask to many silly questions, my modeling knowledge is as close to non-existant as possible. There's practically no "silly" question here. This is why we set up this section: all newbies feel free to ask whatever they are not certain about.
