I've fixed a few of these things by making a block around the plan, completely encasing all geometry. Select all, intersect with selection and delete the unwanted.

Thanks, much appreciated how does this work??? I am trying with this but so much I just don't know

    • Floor plan lines not connecting

I have followed a jpeg image of floor plan and the shape won't close so I can't pull the walls up. It's quite a complex floor plan, whats the best method for finding where the faults lie??

      thanks

I am sure I was doing something wrong with the tool but as I pulled it out the shape it didn't happen uniformly.

    • Adding thickness

have created a hull of a boat using curviloft, and it looks ok. I would like to add a thickness to this shape.

I have tried using the joint push pull tool but it just becomes a mess.

What's the best way to add thickness to such a curved shape?

      thanks for peoples thoughts.

    • RE: Make shapes in objects

Am I right in thinking that these would be the steps.

Create a rectangle that has a depth less than my flute,

Create my pattern on this rectangle

use the bend tool to turn this rectangle in to a cylinder,

put the pattern over the glass then open up the glass oblect and intersect.

Remove the patterned cylinder and tidy the original glass flute?

      thanks

      Hi

everyone, I know how to make things like cups, vases, glasses etc.

But say you want to make a fancy glass like a champagne flute and it has a pattern cut into the outside of the glass, how should you tackle that?

      thanks

    • Closing faces on a dome shape

      Hi
spent an hour or so messing around with a nose cone shape, something like that fits over the top of a prop, on a WW2 plane. I made the model but I have a gap between the internal and external wall. How do I close those faces????

also is there an easy way to line a square object next to a dome shape at a right angle?

I messed around for a bit but it was done by eye. I made the cut out shape lined it up pushed it through and inersected.

      thanks for any help

    • Prefrences

      Hi everyone

in windows --> prefrences --> files section there are lots of options for setting locations of materials, models, styles etc.

I have been doing a bit looking around and I cant see how people have set this up.

Was wondering how people have this orginised and perhaps why.

      wishing everyone a merry christmas.

      thanks

I have a rectangle with both ends sloped at angle. I would like to increase the length, but the push pull tool goes pulls in the angle of the slopes and the scale tool alters the slope. How do I lengthen it, I am completly stuck

    • Hello newbie

      Hi
Just wanted to say hello and how pleased I am to find this forum, I have lightly dabbled with sketchup on and off for the past couple of years and have decided to try an imporve my modelling skills past basic boxes!!!

Hoping to learn lots and not ask to many silly questions, my modeling knowledge is as close to non-existant as possible.

      thanks 💚
