...this release.. is one huge dissappointment!
Why...?
What did you expect...?I agree with such statement: Skippy is primitive tool with minimum options.
So main dev.team is keeping it. -

RE: SU 2014 and Plugins
Hi
I work in another 3d app. App's developers made command-console's command which points where user can have own preferences dir with such dirs: _bugreports, library, plugins, prefs, tex, updatesi prefer if we can select plugin-dir in preferences of sketchup or simply override it by command: sketchup.exe -userdir "X:\skippyDir"

You can still drop them in the Plugins folder, it's just that the Plugins folder has moved..
Just try moving them one or a few at a time so when errors pop-up, you know which files caused the errors.
Plugins just for your use
canmust go in:> %APPDATA%/SketchUp/SketchUp 2014/SketchUp/Plugins >
Plugins for use by all users of a PC
canmust go in:> %PROGRAMDATA%/SketchUp/SketchUp 2014/SketchUp/Plugins >
Who makes such idea to use such paths ?
You are fool. I did not install sketchup to root disk as "C:"(if PC/notebook has default installation). I tried to prevent user(friend, colleague) from crash of hard-disk, mainly it happens with C. And save numerous plug-ins, contentShit happens with dev team again What hell you are doing?

IFC might be useful for someone - i don't need it (for now, maybe somtimes in the future)
I found it useful it will be work with Classifier and impotring skp to (semi-)bim tools like revit, vectorworks, acad, archilinexp... And it will be possible to convert classes of skp to classes of host tool for bim

The SketchUp Team are looking for your requests for the next release....

Honestly, why do you do it? Post it, i mean.
Developers should have saved requests in any databases systems, even in google docs...during or before 8 releasing
this makes me sick... -

But SketchUp isn't a .NET application. It'd be a complete rewrite of everything.
But I think MRI Ruby is available in 64bit anyway.
and? What are sku team doing from release of 8? (Tom, i'm also at influence of name's this topic)
for example, they was under gigantic company as Google, than become Trimble... please don't point thats small...even Maxon(8-12 developers) is having parallel development of cinema4d r15(current version is r14.042) -

About ruby in x64, i saw development for ruby connection in revit(rubyShell project). They used ironRuby to support revit x64 platform...
Can SKU team such, if they read this?ironRuby is targeted for the .NET framework.
and? Trimble LayOut is on it(.NET framework) at windows...macos maybe at monoOSX, i don't know...
I point at x64 platform as it has normal memory management... -

RE: LO 2013 Bugs
I updated by latest packages from MS's KB(MS will drop or dropped support of xp soon).
I think something in components from infragistics or maybe in russian os(language dependent) -
LO 2013 Bugs
Seems LayOut 2013 works fine at windows 8 x64.
But i tried to start at win xp x86(sp3) today at office and at startup splash screen, after creating dialog(status of loading in right down corner at splash-screen) i got shutdown of LO with bugsplat. Trying to understand, what crashed, i went to temp dir to find 2 files(in bugspat dialog):- i could not find xml file
- and second *.net - null sized file?!
Something wrong with .net framework at xp? Has anybody such issue? My main OS is x64 windows 8. I have several CAE tools which normally work at solid xp(xp-mode, virtualization are not work for such at 8).

Almost 3 years and what we got is a bunch of new icons?imo. we have 3 versions(2 are secret): current - 2013 and 2014-2015 which will be to release during skipy will be in Trimble hands and under customer supporting.

RE: SketchUp 2013 Gripes & Bitchin' ONLY ;)
Dan, thank you such thread.
Jason, SKU team are developing to v.2015. then they will be sold to some company, for example AD.
Why 2015? They have sdk roadmap which ends at 2015(IMO)...catch from sdk:
@unknownuser said:
If you have a standalone application that is using SkpReader/SkpWriter to read from and write to .skp files, you may continue to use these old APIs for the time being. You can find SkpReader and SkpWriter under the ‘deprecated’ directory inside the new SDK package. However, please note that the SkpWriter API is now deprecated, and support will be dropped fully with the release of SketchUp 2014. Support for SkpReader will be dropped fully with the release of SketchUp 2015.
So they have v2015 or it's skeleton... what will be after 2015, i don't know? Maybe cloud service?!

RE: SketchUp 2013 ;)
you are free to go and start using some other app.
Edson, i'm from such type of people. But technology of active surfaces (surface and push&pull) return me back to skipy -

+1000, yes, with all are link with text.

RE: SketchUp 2013 ;)
Sorry Tom, i forgot to point that feature which linked to button of skippy gui.
I put example from rhino. We can edit buttons and add fuctions(in-build or custom code in rhinoscript and ironpython in future) to it
