Glad I could help, any problems PM me and I'd be glad to help out more, would like to see your result too if possible, best of luck

Hello Damien,
I tried a few tricks with the position camera tool. However the camera tends to look at the horizon is it possible to point the camera to a particular object.
Suppose there is a cube in the scene and I want the camera to look at the cube. How do I use position camera and also lookat a particular object?
Is this possible?Once I position the camera I usually use the look around tool in the walkthrough tool tab and position the camera view manually on to a fixed point, it works for me, does this help?

RE: SketchUp shown on "American Guns" TV show
Iv modelled the complete mechanism of the styer AUG rifle as its standard weapon and I teach it on a regular bases in the job, unfortunately I can't display the model as its forbidden to give out weapon details and I'll be putting my job at risk

Yes, use the line tool and create a vertical line to the height you want your cam positioned, the position the camera ontop with the position camera tool, export a 2D age in the file drop down tab, save this image as L, then move you vertical line to the right 8inches and repeat but this time save your 2nd image as R. There you have your two images to create a 3D image, hope this helps

Excellent Damien! That's what I needed!
Many thanks!!!Glad I could help, any problems PM me and I'd be glad to help out more, would like to see your result too if possible, best of luck

RE: Stereo plugin for Sketchup
I created 3d videos using sketchup, the best way to achieve this for now is to create a path, place camera positions on the path, then export your animation, using the same path move it to the right and again place your cameras on the same points on the path as before and export the second animation, now you have a L animation and R animation, there are freeware stereophonic creators on the net, google them and place your 2animations into it and you will have a 3d animation in what ever 3D format you choose, you can view on real 3D TVs, Nintendo 3DS etc etc..
The same can be done with just a still image, it is a lot easier too, I usually render my animations but it takes days if not wks to do so I gave it up, like I mentioned on many forums if there were a plugin to spread up the position of cameras and so on it would be helpful, as you can see from the other post I have stills with 2 images which can be viewed in 3D

Yes this is all very possible, it's a topic iv being doing in the past, view topic http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=34252&start=30#p411445
This should help you achieve your goal

RE: Lively by Google
Lively is dead and so it deserves to be, it looked like crap and it played like crap, but the idea of having a virtual space would be great, I create alot of my models on the same theme but with such large files and so many of them it's virtually impossible to display them in a scene, if there were virtual space available imagine the possibilities, allowing others to vertically walk your virtually masterpieces and vice versa, it doesn't have to be a virtual social mmo, just a space to create a visualisation, being anything, leave out all this avatar crap which they messed this lively concept up with, virtual space should be something available to SU users for creating large scenes, more or less like a game engine with built in renders and so on but for SU users.

Now it's me that is feet dragging

Well Damien, I will be taking an untested when the cheap $15 WiFi Remote is delivered. I am looking forward to using this presentation system. Hope I works okay. Pity it's only for Macs

I strongly recommend maikong the white board Mike, i made it myself 2 yrs back and it was a treat, have fun with it

RE: Gizmo and Wii Remote for SketchUp navigation!
Is anyone even taking this serious, look at the whiteboard you can make, this has huge possibilites in SU, HUGE I TELL YE

-
RE: Gizmo and Wii Remote for SketchUp navigation!
Don't be surprised Mike, iv mentioned wii remotes and microsofts kinetc as useful tools for SU and no 1 showed interest, I even had ideas where it would work, I once hacked my wii remote and created a vurtual window on my laptop, where ever I moved in the room the laptop screen gave the illusion I was looking tru a window instead of a flat screen, and I'd I moved towards the laptop I would see more like you would if you moved closer to the window, even a kinect can do 3D scanning, a Kinect retails at β¬150 if not cheaper now, very affordable 3D scanner if you ask me, there are endless possibilities for these devices if employed into SU, iv many ideas and to be honest, this feature you have displayed here, I know a better system which would work using the wii remote, 2 LEDs, and a cheap pair of glasses frames, and your head becomes the remote instead of your hand.
Heres a link that will explain how its done and if you follow the link in the description you can do this yourself and see how effective it is yourself [flash=600,370:2qqqunag]http://www.youtube.com/v/Jd3-eiid-Uw[/flash:2qqqunag]
Also iv seen this employed using sketchyphysics, cant seem to find the demo of it anymore but it works, and this is a usful tool also, and there are many other ways this could be used with SU, Think about it and let your imagination run wild, im sure you can come up with ideas using this with SU that i havent [flash=600,370:2qqqunag]http://www.youtube.com/v/5s5EvhHy7eQ[/flash:2qqqunag]

RE: Gizmo and Wii Remote for SketchUp navigation!
Heres an example of 3D scanning with the kinect sensor, again it retails just under 150 yo yos, thats cheap 3D scanning

Does it allow the use of HDR images for lighting?
Or background plates?
It allows both Rich, just don't have a good Hdr to suit the theme
