After watching this clip and I must admit its a strange cocking mechanism, most weapons iv handles are cocked from the left except the SA80, unusual

There is a good example, I heard that the second season for Jericho was cancelled and a huge protest followed where the fans sent peanuts to the producers, tones of peanuts, why peanuts? Don't ask me but the protest sparked something and the second season went ahead, ha what do we send the syfy channel to give blood and chrome the go ahead, maybe send them fraking moron bars,

It seems scifi games last better than series these days, for example, mass effect, dead space, deux ex revelution and the list goes on, great sci fi games, and the stories so unpredictable, if these games were made as a tv series they proberly take the plunge too, even tho some games where considered for the big screen, like Halo, great game but a movie would just destroy its repertation for sure, scifi games are the alternative to scifi series, and these games do engross you into great stories like BSG, I was a huge fan of Mass Effect, a game which was designed to be a trilogy before they started making it, if this were a series well it would of blowing us out of the water, to think it ends after the 3rd game seems a waste of a sci fi world, I'd like to see it develop more with spin offs or something, this game was also considered to be a movie but a movie can't tell the story like this game did and give the views the same satisfaction a gamer got from the trilogy, I think Marian's link to kickstarter project of space command is the future of sci fi shows and movies since it's suits who don't know anything about sci fi who cancel these shows in the first place for the syfy channel.

@Solo yeah seen Prometheus, I taught it was average, a lot of unanswered questions tho, and indeed it was a very strange ending, I could never understand the opening scene either, with the alien on the top of the waterfall, it baffles me what he does, and the big question at the end, why did they plan on doing what they were doing, don't want to be spoiling it for others but it was worth the watch, excellent in 3D

I recommend checking out "revolution" a new series which looks promising, but hey I taught "tera Nova" was promising too but what a fraking disaster that was, falling skies was a good concept but I believe it lacks the umph BSG had and it's going to be very hard to beat, I'm looking forward to seen blood and chrome even thu it's only a movie instead of a series.

Ok iv a suggestions, for starters cocking handle, I'd put it on the opposite side, cocking a weapon on the right side is difficult when your right hand shouldn't be removed from the pistol grip at any stage, it was a fault the Brits had with the SA80, they would have to tilt the weapon to cock it with their left hand, although it is easier to cock in the prone position serious amount of time is lost in reloading and natual alignment is lost due to tilting the weapon.

Firefly was brilliant, space western, didn't they kill off the characters in a movie a few yrs back, can't see another series being made after that, does anyone remember "space above and beyond" from the mid 90s, I was gutted when they killed off all but 2 characters, then they left it like that.

I'll be honest but Caprica didn't do it for me, BSG was just out of this world, I grew up on the old series as a kid and was very sceptic about the remake but it was better than the original, not a common thing with remakes.
I too was looking forward to blood and chrome and judging by the trailer it would of being even better than the remake, but only to be a tv movie is highly disappointing

For you BSG fans BSG:Blood and Chrome was knocked on the head by the syfy channel, thats just shite, now to become a movie instead, shame really cause the BSG remake was fantastic, the prequel Caprica destroyed all its chances for the future, heres a quick teaser of the movie, looking good anyways

Not very attractive looking, can't see myself getting one, the amount of space this would take up too, not for me but I'm all for this proper positional sitting to prevent back pain.

Dan I'm not so sure that is SU, but hey I could be wrong, I'm not much for using the styles in SU but if someone could replicate the style and it matches the clip then I'd be convinced

Iv come across 2 types of software to use for 3D scanning via the kinect.

1.ReconstructMe
For Windows, you can try ReconstructMe, which is an all-in-one program, that has a non-commercial version for, well, non-commercial work, retails at €360

As an alternative, there is also Skanect, which is available for Windows and OSX. It is not Open Source, but uses several Open Source libraries and is free to use (for now?).

I suggest importing into meshlab first to reduce the amount of polys before importing into SU to make it more managable, try it, it works alot more smoothly if you reduce the 29000 polys to 3000 polys

Ok on my quest to learning to use the Kinect as a tool for 3D scanning i ran into a problem,let me explain, when i baught the kinect i got it with a bundle deal with the xbox, but i was unaware there are 2 types of xbox consoles.

The xbox on the left is the old type (commonly white in colour) which hasnt the ability to power the kinect, the kinect has a seperate adapter for the power supply as seen below.

This abdapter however isnt needed for the new type which is the xbox on the right, as the new version powers the kinect directly, from the image that follows you can see its not your typical USB plug.

So this is the version i have and it doesnt fit a USB port without the adapter, so be careful, if you dont have this adapter dont force it into a USB port, its not meant to fit

Now i havent baught this adapter yet so i cant say if it works but i will be getting my hands on 1 in the next few days, so if you are trying to create a cheap 3D scanner like i am dont forget to buy an adapter

Ok there is a freeware program called "make human", u can google it and get a download from there, that's 1 option, but you will need meshlab and autodesks fbx converter to import into SU, both are freewares also, hope this helps

here's a tutorial link to turn the kinetic into a 3D scanner, I haven't tried using it as of yet but will be trying it out for myself, iv seen this being done successfully in YouTube using SU, has anyone being so successful here in the forums? I myself have a kinect and looking forward to trailing this out.
