I've been trying shaderlight for some landscaping renders since they have instancing, but the problem I find is that it's all within sketchup so the file size gets unwieldy very quickly. All the geometry for the proxies is kept in the SU file. It's such a pain saving 100+ MB files in this restrictive 32bit environment.
This is what Im worried about. If this is the case, we can kiss the idea of xfog and evermotion vegetation goodbye.

Guessing how instancing is gona work
Hi Guys
What are peoples thoughts on how instancing is going to work in the new Vray4SU. I can see how its going to work with the future release of Thea render. By having a studio to save textured components ready to be used as an instance in SU. So I really wonder how Chaosgroup USA are going to get around this without using an external studio.
I realize this is a pointless exercise, but anything to pass the time before the next release.

They will be at Basecamp - maybe they can show of something? At least I'll quiz them on a status update.

Check out the updated Basecamp website with the schedule: https://sites.google.com/site/3dbasecamp2012/home/session-descriptions
Thomthom..........can you grill them on instancing/proxy for me.
Couldn't get proxies in there (and presentable) in time for Basecamp, but they're on the way.
aslong as proxies are on their way. Thanks for chimming in

RE: Ghost Town
The Thea developers seem to have a much better relationship with their community. I bought Thea back in its beta stage, about the time VRay 1.49.01 was out (round about). Since that time thea has added and show cased further development. It gives hope to owners to see whats happening in the future.
I would love to see this happen with VRay4Su. To see a quick clip of RT working, even though its not fully developed would give me hope that its on its way. Hate the silence.
Give us hope -
RE: What The Phong!?

RE: Thickness to Glass
The only time I add thickness to glass window is when for example I have a close up of a window frame. Anytime that the glass is very close to your camera view. Otherwise I just add thickness to where I need to see refraction, like a glass table or wine glass.

RE: How has the Olympic Games been for you and your country?
I'm a proud kiwi (New Zealander) we are currently standing at 12th place after we were awarded another gold because of a winner testing position for drugs. So from a country of 4m I think that's a job well done. Really enjoyed this Olympics. Look forward to Rio now.
