The modelling looks phenomenal - looking forward to the tutorial.

RE: Reference photos for 'match photo' practiceThanks guys I haven't used the technique much, but imagine it will work in most circumstances.

RE: Reference photos for 'match photo' practiceTo get around shift lens issue you can reintroduce converging verticals using an image editor and then use photomatch. It takes a bit of guesswork and fine tuning, but you can get good results. That's the approach I used here:

RE: Reference photos for 'match photo' practiceI often use www.contemporist.com as a source of architectural inspiration. www.archdaily.com & www.homedsgn.com can be pretty good as well. The quality of photography is usually very high and I've saved quite a few image sets for future use on projects where I will possibly use SU's photomatch.

RE: [Plugin] Zero Tilt Camera@unknownuser said: how is it different from viewing SketchUp in parallel projection? That's what I thought as well.

RE: Nice Tutorial on Creating Seamless Texture ImagesPretty comprehensive guide to using the Offset filter to create seamless textures. Thanks for sharing.

RE: Curvy chairI'd say it's certainly do-able, but it'll be no mean feat. I imagine the wire frame would be particularly tricky and I for one would be keen to know the best way to tackle this aspect of the modelling. If you don't need an exact match, then this chair in the 3D Warehouse could work: sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=6a20911ef197f358efa66822a012535e&prevstart=0

RE: George Nelson Coconut Chair [Model - Tutorial - Request]Thanks for the compliment and practical advice. I'll definitely correct the shell material in future renders. To be honest I didn't pay attention to the actual chair and selected a glossy finish to help the shell stand out against the background. Modelling the accompanying ottoman is on my to-do list

RE: George Nelson Coconut Chair [Model - Tutorial - Request]Humbly bumping the thread as I'm still looking for advice.

RE: CookieGreat work - I'm totally blown away by the fact that an SU guru like yourself would find inspiration in my work. Given how much I strugled with texturing and UV mapping my cookies, how did you achieve such great results?

RE: Expertise needed on building victorian 3D model base on picI've got to agree with everyone that the deadline is completely unreasonable. It would probably take me weeks to figure all the different elements needed for each chair (I wouldn't even know where to start with the scrolled frames). For the cushions a good place to start would be the following two posts by Teezer and Solo:

RE: Making 3D from a Black and white imageOr create a vector version and export it to SU as a DXF or DWG - cleaning up the line work with a bezier tool for higher poly modelling. That's the route I usually take.

RE: Making 3D from a Black and white imageThere's Thomthom's Bitmap To Mesh plugin: viewtopic.php?t=31339. I suspect that the results will depend very much on the quality of your source image.

RE: Shell chair - Hans WegnerExcellent modelling and texturing Can we expect some Bertrand Benoit style renders?

RE: George Nelson Coconut Chair [Model - Tutorial - Request]Glad you found it useful. I found some problems with the model today, so I updated the 3D Warehouse file - you might want to take a look. I've also created a textured version of the chair which has been UV mapped properly. It's too large for the 3D Warehouse, so I'll share it here as an attachment.

RE: [Plugin] UVTools 0.2 Pro (Beta) (Updated for SU6)I haven't quite got my head around the full scope of the programme (looks promising though), but working in conjunction with Whaat's plugin I found it pretty intuitive. It's just a matter of figuring out the best UV mapping technique for your model. I didn't see a .skp option, just .dae which crashed UU3D.

RE: [Plugin] UVTools 0.2 Pro (Beta) (Updated for SU6)I'm using Ultimate Unwrap 3D.
