When you import in SU you have an Options button in the file dialog. From there you must select the unit the imported file is it. SU does not detect the correct size.

Hi TIG, Thanks for your reply. I had to scale it afterwards as I don't think it was drawn right when it was done in Max (I didn't create it) Will this scale definition enable me then to edit the model?

A 'helix' is simply a 3D curve - so like anything else it can be Scaled in plan to change its diameter or make it ellipsoidal and in its height to change its 'pitch'... You can taper it in its height when making it too. It's so quick to do remaking another helix is easy enough... Since what SUP imports is limited it's best to strip down the CAD file to just what you need and purge/audit it before the SUp import - it'll import much faster and produce far fewer unwanted things in SUp that you'll need to Purge [Model INfo > Statistics] - there might still be some unused layers, components etc [e.g. the block 'arch_tick' if there were any dims] that get imported - you need to Purge the SUp Model of these to keep it 'trim'...

I am having this same issue, and I need to print on 36x48 for a presentation!!! The highest I can get it to export is 2,600, and that's with anti-alias turned off. I'm running SketchUp Pro on a Pentium 4 running at 3 GHZ, w/ 4 GB of RAM. My only guess is that it could be the video card, but its an ATI FireGL V3400 w/ 128 MB. Any ideas?
