      Thanks, Broomstick,

      completely forgot to add the dirt to the roof tiles! ๐Ÿ˜†

      Here's the SU shot of same roof image. It's not actually a photomatch, but used Tomasz' BMVB to put a plane behind the building and paste my image from the client he took from the actual building's roof on it.

      http://twilightrender.com/phpBB3/download/file.php?id=2362

      Then in Photoshop I used an alpha mask rendering from Twilight to mask the same image back into the rendering... actually it was a 'doctored' version of the image. ๐Ÿ˜‰

      More on this scene's composition in this thread on Twilight's forum.

    • RE: [Plugin] Goldilocks

      pg09,
      If you are using Twilight, and export to XML and choose to export the texture images and IES files, it will export them all into the folder for you... that's how I am able to quickly find the 12 big files out of the 60 image files in the scene without one-by-one checking.

      Although, with Goldilocks, it's now a different process! ๐Ÿ‘ but in my case above, I was not using Goldilocks, just wondering how to quickly import the 12 resized images and replace the big ones in the scene.

    • RE: [Plugin] Goldilocks

      Hi Chris, of course, it's easy if you only have one texture that you know of, but if you have 12 images or more in a file that need to be resized, and you are not sure which they are or names even or even where they are in the scene, you may not have created the scene (large arch. office for instance)... not so fun. ๐Ÿ˜„

    • RE: [Plugin] Goldilocks

      Hi Adam, OK... so I have a SU model sent to me that has about 12 images that are way oversized.

      I can easily see the big files in Windows Explorer and resize the images manually with Pshop... but how can I easily load them back into SU? SU already has these larger material textures loaded ... it would be cool if there were a tool to quickly replace them with the newly re-sized images.

      some sort of "Replace all textures in scene that are in this folder"

      of course, even better would be to use Goldilocks, but then be able to select any image that is desired to be resized and resize it with that tool all without leaving SketchUp.

      If anyone knows of a tool to reload the textures in the SU file from a file folder, please let me know.

      TIG, does it also make all groups and components have the default material? (in case one or two got accidentally painted somehow?)

      @unknownuser said:

      Do you mean that you do an Orbiting while RoundCorner is computing the geometry(i.e. with the progress bar moving and the hourglass cursor)?

      PS: it is anyway a very wise habit to save before doing anything complex, especially with scripts but also with native Sketchup operations.

      no no no... I wouldn't try that, no. I'm just going around my building to select about 30 edges that need to be beveled... I get about 20 edges or more... and then need to rotate/pan to see the other ones... I can orbit/rotate the view just fine, but if I hit that CNTRL button + middle mouse button in order to pan the image... poof gone.

      no big deal, I agree whole-heartedly and try very hard to save before using most scripts that are 'advanced' like RoundCorner. I really like how you have a 'catch' in it where if it runs into something it can't do, it just stops and doesn't do anything so I can continue working without a crash... in those cases I select fewer lines to bevel at a time and it usually works great.

      I couldn't be any happier with FredoScale and RoundCorner... anyone using SketchUp without those tools is NOT using the same program I am using as far as I'm concerned... Fredoscale and RoundCorner saved my beep several times, just this week! ๐Ÿ˜†

      @thomthom said:

      Why is the blocks unique in AutoCAD in the first place? Blocks are imported fine into SU as components. This is really more a matter how the ACAD drawing is made.
      Mind you - I've also wanted a function to merge similar groups/components. When importing from Revit you often get windows that should be the same component as different components, but with different axis orientation.

      yes, but I think ACAD solids come in as groups, not components.

      @fletch said:

      So, if your Cleanup routine had an option "Convert All Unique Components to Groups" that would be great.

      This could in theory be done easily. Except that there seem to be a bug in the SU API that makes the creating of groups some times crash SU.

      bummer. ๐Ÿ˜ž

      Gaieus:
      not exactly what I'm looking for... thanks. Imagine you get handed a model from someone else and are told you 'need it done in 4 hours'... before the meeting at the end of the day. Now this model is a mess that was imported from CAD, and then worked on for a day or two by someone else, and now they've given it up and handed it to you "because your faster"... now this model has potentially many issues... not least of which hundreds of components that are each UNIQUE... meaning they are components, but not for any other reason except that is how they are... 50 of THOSE happen to be identical, yet uniquely named columns in various places in a large complex of buildings... so... you now have to change that column... and by hand have to edit every column. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ ... yeah... happened to me once. ๐Ÿ˜

    • RE: Lights copied from another model wont work

      Agree w/ Frederik,
      please post Twilight questions in the Twilight forum... we may not necessarilysee a question placed here.

      could be that some kind of geometry is blocking the light?
      could be that the lights are large radius?
      could be many things.

      copying a light from one file to another should work perfectly

    • RE: [Plugin][$] RoundCorner - v3.4a - 31 Mar 24

      Hi Fredo,
      several times it has happened to me now that if I have a complex selection during a bevel operation with RoundCorner2.1 and I use the orbit tool, then push the CTRL button in order to pan while orbiting, again, while I am in the middle of a complex operation with roundcorner, then SU will just POOF disappear...

      I now make a habit of saving every time before using Roundcorner or Fredoscale...

      just curious if anyone else has seen a similar issue... ๐Ÿ˜•

    • RE: Cameras scale with scene upon rescale

      thanks xrok... workarounds are ok for a temporary fix... but my point is that this is something extremely long-standing.

      and this idea will certainly NOT work in an office situation where you are handed all sorts of sloppy models from others... I'm certainly NOT able to go in and replace 20 cams for some other guy's work 6 months ago.

      It will also not work when I'm in a 'support' situation working with someone else's model. ๐Ÿ˜•

      so for my 'wish'... no.

      so I need to use a plugin and special tool for something that seems fairly basic?

      • I don't want these camera objects.... they would only confuse the less-initiated SU users in the office. ๐Ÿ˜’

    • Cameras scale with scene upon rescale

      I try not to be a whiner, or complain much... so let's call this a 'wish'... but perhaps it belongs in the Bug section as it's been a problem since day one when I started with SU4 or 5... can't even remember now. ๐Ÿ˜ณ

      one thing I just ran into again that seems like it should have been 'fixed' long ago... ๐Ÿ˜•
      When you use the tape measure tool and then type in a distance, it asks if you want to rescale the model.
      If you say yes, it rescales the model. Great.

      Now all 20 cameras I had set up are useless... ๐Ÿ˜ข and going and setting them up again exactly as they were before in the newly scaled model seems quite impossible.
