      Thank you, sir.

I suppose that style isn't the best for that cabinet. Here's a straight--no special styles applied--version.

Keepsake box based of a friend's sketch. I cleaned it up for him and added a bit of my own to it.

China Cabinet final. I posted this model earlier when it was still in progress. I've finished it up and waiting to hear how much dimensioning I need to do so the fellow can build it.

      Thanks for looking.

      Thank you gentlemen.

If only I could find the time to get into the shop to build some of this stuff.

A chair based on Jared Rusten's Palo Alto series.

And here's a coffee table based upon his Cupertino series.

A simple bow front cabinet that evolved from a Stickley-style sideboard. I know it's hard to believe but it's true.

This will open WordPad. I made it to show up under Tools because my Plugins menu is too long. I just modified CALC.rb.

It's not exactly what you had in mind but I imagine it could be modified to do what you want. Or maybe Todd's script suggestion already does that?

I like this idea. You know Dave, you could have it open a specific doc file that has the same name as the model file. So each model has it's own unique notes doc. Simple and effective solution. Add a Open Note toolbar button and your done.

Sorry, Jim. The script I posted shows the extent of my Ruby skills. I just modified a script I think Todd wrote. Your ideas are good but I haven't the foggiest idea how to implement them.

So could a Ruby be written to open WordPad, do a Save as... with the SU file name and save it following the model's path and then leave the WordPad open for use?

Thank you all. Not much change but here's the most recent version. the center door has been moved to the front. All that's left to do is the drawer boxes and the drawer guides. The guy for whom I'm drawing this wants to see it with overlay drawers although I would like him to build it with the inset drawers as I've drawn it. Once those things are done it'll be time to make up the working drawings for him. Hopefully I'll be able to post some images of the real thing one of these days.

Thank you James for the work on the cabinet. I hadn't done any of the glass because the very basics of the design were up in the air. You did a good job especially with adding the china.

Thank you for your comments, Tom. I can have almost as much fun playing around with the style variables as I can making the drawings in the first place. I saved this one for later use.

Thank you. Yes, the doors will have glass in them. The cabinet is very shallow and I expect there'll be minimal clearance between the doors so my thought for the pulls would be simple recessed fittings. It's supposed to be a sort of Arts & Crafts style piece so perhaps something of hammered copper. I'm not the one building it or living with it. We'll see what he comes up with.

    • China Cabinet WIP

Just thought I'd post a china cabinet I started on last night for a friend. It's based on the dimensions and other specs he gave. I sent this off to him to get his opinion and while waiting, started playing with styles.

The doors on the cabinet are to be sliders. Two dividers inside the cabinet so a door covering each bay. Personally I think the center door should be in front but this is how things stand at the moment. Might need to add another leg to balance out the base unit with the case.

    • My Renderings in KT2008 Echo

These three were done last night in the new KT.

The first was done using preset 06.PM-Medium+AA0.3. Render time was 2 min 17 seconds.
      Red Stools 06PM2Min17Sec.jpg

Next at Preset 07.PM High+AA0.3 in 6 minutes 39 seconds.
      Red Stools 07.6_39-1.jpg

And the third was done with Preset 20.MLT (BPT) in 7 hours, 50 minutes and 43 seconds. I did this one rather than shutting the computer down when I went to bed.
      Red Stools 20.7_50_43.jpg

The first two were done while I was checking e-mail and otherwise occupying the computer with stuff. In both cases I was amazed at how rapidly the renders were completed. the major difference I see between them is some jaggies along the floor near the wall and some graininess near the back on the upper face of the seat in the PM versions. My guess is going to a higher PM preset would take care of that. MLT (BPT) did a little nicer job on the floor and shadows.

Over all from my non expert point of view, the first two would be acceptable renders to show most people. They wouldn't notice the little differences.

    • RE: Trying to get to grips with Indigo

      Anssi, that looks pretty good.

I have a wall lamp that's supposed to have a mica shade. I'll have to dig that model out and give it another try.

I am thinking of giving up on Indigo, though, and sticking with Kerkythea. I've posted several times on the Indigo forum and everyone criticizes the same thing--I've drawn no bevels on the edges. While I agree that bevels would help the renderings, I refuse to add that geometry to my models. My models are drawn to make shop drawings from and don't need that sort of detail. The rendering is more for my enjoyment since my clients don't really care if the images are rendered or not. Since Kerkythea does support bevel mapping, I might as well continue on with it.

      Oh, Tomasz! πŸ˜„

Apparently not. I asked on the forum after one of the guys there told me my renders would look better with beveled edges. I was told I'd have to bevel the edges manually in SU.

I like that about Kerkythea but I wish it was available through the SU2KT exporter.

One thing I'd like to be able to have is the highlights on the edges. I could do it by putting a tiny bevel on all the edges but I've been working so hard at reducing my over modeling tendencies. πŸ˜’

13 hours... you have patience sir. :egeek:

Version 1 of Indigo doesn't seem to hog the resources on my computer as the previous couple of versions I tried did. I went ahead and did other stuff. I also slept during most of it. I just shut the monitor off and went to bed. Got up this morning and it was still churning. A little bit longer and I might have had butter. πŸ˜‰

I'm having a bit of luck with Indigo. Thanks Whaat. This is with version 1.0.2 and Skindigo V1.

13 hours and a wee bit of adjustment in Violet. Materials need work and I'm still working on learning the new Skindigo UI but it's coming.
