You are the Master of understatement.
I'd love to clone your gene that resists embellishment, a bane to most of us.

Cards are interesting, I believe they appeared at first in France, mostly as a visitor announcement, and then moved into use by businesses as a form of advertising.
Probably now they have become more commonplace as a tool to get recipients to your website, which has no doubt become the centre piece in most marketing strategies.
But they really are the "Branding" face of most small businesses.
I'd love to hear your experiences as one who works in this field Richard.

The Yike Bike. I remember seeing this in concept stage some time ago but now see that its on the shelves! Its pricey but breaks the mold when it comes to personal transport.

I would have loved one of these when I was living on the coast for my commute to and from work and the Ferry. It was an uphill return to the ferry, and took me just long enough that I would miss the Ferry which would mean a 14 hr day by the time I got home.
Love the way it folds also.Screenshot 2012-09-07 at 6.00.02 AM.png and starting at $2000.00 US puts it inline with other quality electric bikes.

At first I thought this was counterpoint to Pete's post. A decadent Life straw, for the first world's trending overfed.
But the implications of the technology, when I dug deeper, could have staggering consequences on the delivery of medications for asthsma, and many more. http://www.egodesign.ca/en/article.php?article_id=605

I think you've nailed an incredible example of not only how design can bring about change, but that it is not just about aesthetics, but outcome. Great find!

      Thanks Tig and ArCAD-UK
I now know it must be the Retina display as I took a screenshot on the old MacBook to post along with a screenshot on the new MacBook to post and show the difference, but when I opened the old Macbook screenshot on the Retina, although it looked substantially different on the old MacBook, it was exactly the same on the new machine.
I also tried cycling through styles as you suggested Tig, but there was no discernible change in guide size.
The Retina has only 2 available screen resolution sizes: Best for Retina , and scaled.(What goes on in their little minds πŸ˜’)
Scaled seems to be designed to enhance text.
There is a program available called SwitchResX, https://store.kagi.com/cgi-bin/store.cgi?storeID=3XH_LIVE that allows for any screen resolution to be used. There is a fair amount of complaining (OK whining) going on about this in the Macbuzz universe.
As for the other, No guidelines appearing.
I just want to clarify. I have no problem making guidelines do what I want, it was just under this one circumstance, where nothing happens, I was trying to understand.
      If you could indulge me:

      Create a 10' x 10' (3.048 m x 3.048 m) vertical square along the Red axis.
With the tape measure tool, Inference to the centre of the top of the square, and pull a guideline down on the face of the square, lets say 3' (0.914m)
with the tape measure tool inferenced to the centre of that guideline, pull out along the green axis, again let's say 3' (0.914m).
      Right Click.

I'm interested in what happens for you, as nothing happens for me, the green arrow indicating I am on the green axis appears as I pull out, but when I click, there is no guide point, or guideline.
I was wondering if this was a bug, or if there was some (Duh) reason (that was being secretly kept from me), that made this action useful.

      Thanks

Thanks beginner. I'm just starting to consider Layout for final working drawings, but having a proper set of dxf/dwg drawings for other consultants is a must.
Doesn't sound flawless, so I might have to take certain drawings (ie floorplans, reflected ceiling plans) from SketchUp into one of my Cad programs first on order to accomplish this. Too bad.

Thanks daarboven I appreciate your answer
I don't really have a problem, as I know the work around, I am really wondering why Sketchup has this particular function, and what its usefulness is. (Or is it a bug in my system)
Actually I was helping a friend learn SketchUp and it happened, and I just couldn't give him the answer why.

    • Seeking some SketchUp Clarifications and advice

I have just moved to a new MacBook Pro Retina, and the difference in how Sketchup looks and performs compared to my old MacBook Pro ( mid 2010 model) is staggering.
The mid 2010 MacBook has known issues, which is why I on a new computer only 2 years after purchasing.
SketchUp on the old MacBook was very, very quirky. But because I have project deadlines, I just found workarounds, and in the end was able to make things happen.
      Cutting to the questions though:
I use tape measure guidelines a lot, not really suspect considering I am a Cabinetmaker/Joiner/Carpenter by trade, so it fits my workflow.
On the Retina, the guidelines appear as very thin line weights, and although elegant, I would love them just a little thicker. Is there any way of doing this?

Using the tape measure tool, there are times when it will not create a guide line. This seems to take place after one guide line is already created, and you want to create another guide from the first one.
For instance: If I create a rectangle, then from the centre point on one of the edges, I create a guide line on the face of the rectangle, If I go to the centre point of the newly created guideline and try to create a new guide, it won't do it.
Can anyone explain under what parameters this occurs?
I may add more to this thread as I notice the differences between my old system, and the new one, so thanks for the help.

Here's a link to some pretty in depth coverage of the dirt on a lot of law suits in progress, including the Apple/Samsung.
Neat thing about this site is it will include pdfs of a lot of the actual affidavits, so will sometimes separate fact from viral internet rumor.

Gee Nick, there must be something you can do about that!!! How do you transfer files to sub- consultants electronically? πŸ˜•

This is an excellent question. Our electrical and mechanical engineers all request dxf/dwg drawings as they take our base drawings and build theirs on that.
Can you export layout in dxf/dwg?
