    • RE: What's your beginners tip?

One thing is while learning is to have a definate project to draw. Don't just sit in front of the computer and figure out what you can draw. Say your gonna build a basic house, and start drawing. Learn keyboard shortcuts as much as possible and also learn what holding ctrl, shift, etc will do when you are performing a function like copying. (like may functions, this is ONE way) To copy, select the object, click on a part of the object(prefferrably a corner of major part of the object),then, before you move the mouse, click the ctrl button, then move your new copy. Hope that makes sense...
Have fun like Solo says....very true.

      Hi Earthmover,

thanks for your advise. I'm assuming I need to tweak setting in the Vray material editor? Check the Displacement box and click on the "m". Pick a type of "sky,noise,...etc. Change multiplier? My hair is turning grey.....

    • RE: Some Interior Rendered Vray Sketchup

      Hi there,

Those are AMAZING! I have been debating about which render program,Podium or Vray. Cost versus quality? Your post really helps me figure it out, thank you. I am having a hard time figuring out adding displacement to a textured surface. Are you able to post a point form list of how or even a tutorial? That would be great! Any more renders you could post? Have a great day....

      Cheers,
      Jeff

    • RE: Business Card

      Hi There,
I think that the types of clients you'll be doing work for won't be too bothered by the robot being dismembered. "D ARQ" (dark) kinda suits animation styles that seem to be popular. I think both designs are good but the second last one keeps it simple. Much easier to remember your company name when that is the only wording on the front of the card, just have the other contact details on the back. Also, how about using G Mail for your e-mail? I kinda like knowing I'm supporting the company that brings us Sketchup.....just a thought. Good luck with your new venture....

Yup....that is another way to do it. Options are good. That's what's great about this forum. Everyone can offer different ideas and ways to do something and then you just pick what works. All good. Let's see more...

      Hey Pete,

Judging by your screen shoots, I noticed you have quite a few tool icons. Wow...maybe when you have time, you could list the plugins and or rubies. Thanks and really nice straight forward tut. Easy to follow.

Do you know of a better tutorial than the one on the Vray site? I'd like to learn what the settings are for and so on. Thanks...

I just downloaded SU7 Pro yesterday and can't wait to try all this new features. They all in general look pretty good. I'm gonna stay positive about the new release dispite all the heckelers. I really like the fact that you can scale a component and it will redraw to scale.

      Very cool Rodentpete,
Are you starting with the body and building out from there or do you draw earch part(leg, arm) and use the move tool to put them together? Nice detail.

What is your preferrance for a rendering program. I'd like to get as much feedback and opinions as possible before I layout the money.
