      When setting a texture image size in sketchup is this done visually or do you use the jpg original pixel size?

      Thanks in advance

    • Printing A1 size

      I would like to have Sketchup model printed a1 Size at the printers. Would they need to have sketchup installed in order to print it? or do I have to save to a special format?

      Thanks in advance

    • RE: Pilaster capital

      Thank you for all the useful replies & links.
      I have been looking at Greek orders of architecture. The capital I have chosen derives from the Corinthian order, which apparently was not used as much as the others. So keeping with history I might have to go with a easier order πŸ˜‰

      Looking around the web I have seen some really good examples, I was wondering if these were
      3d scanned?

      Hello Folks

      I would like to model this pilaster capital.
      I have imported the jpg into sketchup & tried tracing over the top using freehand, but I am not convinced this is the easiest way.

      What would be the best way of going about this?

      Thanks In Advance

      Simon

      Your right a smoother transition would be better, can you tell me how please?
      The curve is at the front because the room that the table top was in was turned on it axes, if that make sense. I wanted to have the sun enter my room through a window without changing the time or date

      Thanks for the tips chaps really appreciate you taken the time to share your knowledge πŸ˜„

      I have done what you both said, what do you think?. Also I have a couple of issues that I have high lighted in the red circles, not sure what the technical term for the problem is?

      I thought that it could be my lights were too powerful, but I am not sure πŸ˜•

      Hello Dave

      Thanks for the feedback. I have taken your advice regarding the shadows & the details do stick out better now. The shadows that I have highlighted within the dresser are a bit to much , what do you think?

      I am getting frustrated trying to get the details stand out in my dresser. I have switched off Vrays physical camera and gi to help me understand better and try to simplify . There is ies lighting in the dresser & a rectangle light on the ceiling with intensity set at 28.

      Help greatly appreciated & thanks in advance

      @cotty said:

      If you mean faces with hidden lines in it by "curves", you can activate view -> hidden geometry and use the texture on one partial surface and sample it afterwards...

      Hi thanks that works

      @dave r said:

      Why are you editing the dimensions of the material? Is it not already the correct size?

      Repetition will (and must) occur if the material image isn't large enough to cover the face. For that reason short sections of wood grain generally do not make realistic-looking materials. I prefer images of whole boards such as in this image.

      http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8436/7974567274_bdf1469cf9_z.jpg

      The narrow images don't show the full width of the image like the one on the right does.

      Hello Dave, thanks I will keep that in mind
