Central PA - 100 miles east of Pittsburgh. Looks like it is finishing up with about 10" from the last 2 days on top of the 21" we got Friday/Saturday. Cold and windy making it very tough to get around. We usually get considerably more than they do in Philly or the Burgh - but old man winter is spreading it around this year.......Luckily the kids (teenagers) are helping with the shoveling this time around - my back has had about enough!

    • RE: Night/Dusk Shots

      David,

Nice images - I prefer the first as well. I don't think the jet contrails work in the second - feel too contrived and the one on left looks more like a ufo.(not that i have ever seen one 😲 ) If you took the background hint from the first image and made it warmer (pink) toward the horizon and darker (blue) at the top - I think it would work fine.

Really nice work on the reel Adam!

That project will be a nice addition to the skyline up on Mt Washington.

    • RE: New Twilight render...

Really nice use of Twilight Tom!

2nd is my favorite too, but there are some really nice aspects in all 3. Not sure I am buying the amount of water on the road in the front - maybe just a coupld of large defined puddles. Are the trees all from the new collection you have been working on? If so - they really hold up well in both the PR an NPR styles. You know I really liked your DWC's before....... but IMHO the expansion of your toolset to include a render engine like Twilight has taken your work up another notch. I just love the depth and mood and texture that the lighting system in the pr render engine adds to the overlay styles that some utilize. Because of your DWC experience and skillset - yours are all that more effective in the final output.

Please keep them coming - I always love seeing your work!! β˜€

    • RE: Frank Lloyd Wright Project [Update 2-25]

      Bravo!
Wonderfull detail modeling and texturing there. The bush is very nice - what is the (application / library) source? Only crit would be to make a small gap between the edge of the steps and the wall as these would never butt together that tightly.

      Again - great work!

      Horseman04,

That is some really nice work! The concrete detail and the pool are excellent in that last image. All this difficult geometry and the challenge of obtaining good reference materials makes this a real labor of love. Great to see your progress!

      Adam,

Really nice image! Are you using the native sketchup file importer to get it to MAX? If so - have you had any issues with it?

      Thanks,

    • RE: Several New Projects - Sketchup & V-Ray

      Adam,

Really nice collection of work here - looks like you have been busy since graduation. How are you liking the working world? Glad to see you foud something local, I hope it is working well for you.

My only feedback on the images would be that I think the illustrative style would benefit from being a little looser and less saturated. Also, like others I think that the cloud view is cool - I just wish it was done on a project with a more interesting roof / site amenities, like the Mobili samples.

Good to see some of your work again!

    • RE: Playing with DOF in Twilight...

      Tom,

I think itworked well, but there may not be enough depth between the house and your background for it to make that much of a difference. How is it for speed - does it increase the rendering time. I must admit I have not tried it yet.

The trees BTW are looking absolutley great!

    • New WIP - Corbu Shodan House - Update 2/05/10

Had an urge to do some modeling - so I started another Corbu residential, the Shodan house in India. A very unique concrete structure dated 1956. I will be keeping the majority as original with some contemporary updates and placing it in a different location. First three views to document working layout and core conc. structure. Composite images from both TwiR renderings & SU exports. Let me know what you think so far

      Thanks,

    • RE: A couple of TwilightRender renders...Update 01-26

      Tom,

These look great! I agree with Olishea - please render one with the front of the house lit up and shadowed from your wonderfull trees. Also, the heavy clump of branches on the big tree in the left foreground - is the mapping off on the branches or is it just the angle?

    • RE: WIP - Twilight Interiors - Update 1-03-10

Thanks everyone for the suggestions in working with HDRI - I will be experimenting more in the future.

      Dspace,
My goal was to test some NPR interiors styles - so the PR versions were only ever intended as being a base. That being said - here is the PR daytime image ( 9+ hr.) that I worked from, and also a night version with Artemide Aqua Cil lamps using point lights. No pp on these 2 images.

      Preset #9 - 34 passes = 3.5 hrs.

      Preset #9 - 82 Passes = 9+ Hrs.

Fantastic work! That last one is a wonderful image, and the texturing holds up very well for the distance the original photos were taken from - not an easy task. πŸ‘

    • RE: WIP - Twilight Interiors - Update 1-03-10

Thanks for all the feedback guys - I think I prefer the second one as well.

      hI Stinkie!

All 3 images use 2 TwiR images as the base. First 1 was run @ #9 preset - left it cook overnight for 9+ hours = 82 passes. Other was a #7 preset - took 1+ hrs. to run. Then ps work to combine these with multiple overlays of su exports, mostly linework exports. Just the sun for lighting along with a physical sky. I want to start learning to use hdr's - but I am not sure how to be able to keep the well defined shadows that the sun generates.

A couple of Twilight Interiors NPR composites - let me know which you prefer. I will be adding some table and floor lamps, and some accessories to the shelves and table tops to get more of a "lived in" look.
