    • Star Trek - Hayden Class at Warp (+Oberth cameo)

      Hey guys,

This is the first time I rendered something that could remotely go through as a wallpaper or "piece of art", so I thought it would be cool to show it in here first πŸ˜„ The Hayden is a design of my own, the Oberth was made by 3DW contributor TE Williams, although I found out at the last moment that his model is... well, quite inferior to my own in ways of smoothing. I think I'll be going back and smooth things out to make the picture better, but if any of you has some other tips to make the image better... shoot!Warp_Warp_and_Away.jpg

I agree, go for it! I'm super anxious to see this one come to life in SU; it would make the modelling of more organic shapes very easy, which I'm all for 😎

Bah, very annoying, I was hoping I could find it somewhere but it seems tha's not the case. >_<

    • Changing the 3DW Image

I uploaded a model today to the 3D Warehouse, using SU7's integrated upload tool. However, with the SU5 plugin I was able to change the picture the 3DW showed the browsers. Is there a way of doing such a thing now as well? I thought I had found it, but that was for uploading KMZ files only...

    • RE: SU7 Intersect with model crash

A little while ago I had the same problem, and went for a shower. Point was.. it wasn't that big of an operation. SU5 did it without even twitching, while 7 wasn't finished with when coming back half an hour later. And as said, it was a pretty straightforward oparation: half a cylinder IwM to a flat surface.

It seems that for now, the problem has been solved: apparently an update was all it took to iron it out. Thanks anyway guys πŸ˜„

    • RE: SU7 Intersect with model crash

SU just hangs, it even does it with a simple geometry IwM command. I can see that it's thinking, it takes up 98% of my CPU time, and the memoryusage spikes to 130mb. I tried letting it go it's own way, if perhaps giving it time would help, but to no avail.

    • RE: SU7 Intersect with model crash

Great. I cut down on filesize for a game, the model now ticking in at 14.2megs instead of the former 23. Still no Intersect with Model functionality, and what's worse, I can't copy the model either. I know for a factthat SU5 didn't have trouble with this at all, but I'm a bit reluctant to go through all the hassle of installing 5 and needing to downgrade a lot of my models back to 5 as well. Guys... any solutions available?

    • SU7 Intersect with model crash

I'm modelling a starship which is pretty big by now; it's almost done, and the file comes in now at 23.1MB. Now, I want to execute the Intersect with Model command, but everytime I do it, SU crashes. I already experimented with different shapes, seeing if simple shapes vs complex shapes matters, but for SU it makes no difference: it crashes either way. I don't have this problem with other models, so I was wondering if any of you has had similar problems?

    • RE: (TRICK) To re-enable skp file preview

Well... You used a file to install the program, right? That is the file you need. I don't know where you put your files, I usually throw them in a folder called Downloads...

    • RE: [Plugin] Round Edge - v1.0 (by Bezier)

It would be great if the Round Edges tool would work like that Bonzai3D image. I've had so much models which use complex shapes that totally effed up when I unleashed the RE tool on them, after which I had to manually retrace the outlines to make them work properly...

    • RE: (TRICK) To re-enable skp file preview

I had the same problem as well not so long ago. I fixed it by hitting the SU installer and clicking the "repair" option instead of the "install" or "remove" option. It will then check to see if there's anything out of the ordinary (like faulty preview information) and fix it. I think this is the most universal way of fixing this kind of problem, no matter which operating system πŸ˜„

Gonna bump this one up again. Fredo, have you made any progress on the script? Or is it likely that it will stay like this for some time. I'm going to install it in 7 right now, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed! ^_^

RayOchoa, I didn't make eacht half a component because I wanted to delete each and every line that is a result of pasting the two halves together and because of some non-symetrical parts. It's all done now, with the model being 20.9MB, but she renders quite nice πŸ˜‰

Fredo, do you have paypal? I would like to make a small contribution for your efforts πŸ˜„

    • RE: [Plugin][$] Tools On Surface - v2.6a - 01 Apr 24

Thanks Fredo; I'll try that next.

I'm getting this error too. Is there anything I forgot to extract?

      @unknownuser said:

      Error Loading File LibOnSurface.rb

[EDIT] Hmmm... didn't work. The problem is that in the last screenshot, you can see a blue line that comes through the object (default color). That's the face I want to offset. When I do so, it thinks that that object is the same as the cilinder on which I am trying to offset. This results in a few lines on the cilinder (the grey area), but then all of a sudden the lines makes a strange turn, goes over the object (the default color thing), and when it touches the grey area again, it goes back to the beginning. I want that blue lined face to extrude, not anything else 😐

    • RE: [Plugin][$] Tools On Surface - v2.6a - 01 Apr 24

Well that's strange, I'm using the tool right now to offset from a shape on a curved face. However, for some reason it thinks that the object is part of the face too, and thus is offsetting over that face. That's (obviously) not what I want...

    • RE: Joint Push Pull Classic (Old version) - v2.2a - 26 Apr 17

While I'm late, I still want to show my appreciation for the fact that you gave out this script for free, Fredo. It's really a nice piece of programming, and the way it's integrated within the SU toolribbon makes it feel very natural. If Google's watching this, they'd do good to just add the plugin to SU7; why waste time on something that's already there while you can make the next version even better?

Nice house, I'd skip the railing too; it makes one feel more free, as you put it too.

Which renderer did you use, and how did you get that water effect?

    • RE: The Alcove: a WIPtacular thread

I've been tinkering with a NES Lite for some time now, this started a bit after I was trying to convert a NES into the Transformer charachter Soundwave. That, unfortunately, isn't succesfull up until today, but I plan on finishing it somewhere in the future πŸ˜› The NES Lite, however, turned out pretty good, the design incorporating a removable power converter and all kinds of shiny stuff. Here shown with an original NES and a cartridge for size comparison. When the cartridge is slid into the NES Lite, it will become flush with the rest of the casing. I'm thinking of a lid that revolves back when you put the cartridge in, a la the old VCR players, but I'm not sure of that yet...

Thanks for the replies guys! I use Kerkythea for the renders, I believe it gives me the best result. Plus, there are a few users over at SciFi-meshes.com that use it, so I can use their expertise on the program whenever I need to πŸ˜„
