Here's some other work. This is a trainstation capable of handling two medium sized sets of trainwagons, I was thinking of 6 carriages per track. The portals in front of the escalators are for use with a system of public-transit RFID cards; the warehouse didn't gave me any so I had to make them myself. I'm nowhere done with the lighting, still finding out what works best and fastest.

In the end I plan on modelling the direct environment of the station as well, give it trees and bicicle standards and stuff. First to finish the station itself, though...

    • RE: Train Station (WIP)

You know, perhaps it would be a cool idea to design the new station in a similar way to the old one, but a bit more modern. I think the surroundings would benefit from that πŸ˜„ Could you show us a view including the tracks?

    • The Alcove: a WIPtacular thread

As requested, this will be my gallery post in which I'll show you guys 'n gals my work. Some of it may be rendered (using Kerkythea), other images could come directly out of SketchUp. Suggestions are always welcome, as well as ways to improve models and make them smaller. I love small models, but somehow coughdetailinguntilmypcexplodescough I always end up over the 4 or 5MB πŸ˜›

Hmm... Can someone explain to me how subd'ing works? When I'm looking at that square my mind can't understand how the second shape is formed using subd'ing...

    • RE: [Plugin] Round Edge - v1.0 (by Bezier)

Allright, I have this BIG model (6.79mb per half) on which I want to unleash the tool. Will the filesize (and thus the controlability) suffer under it when I do so? Attached is a screencap of the model. Note that it's only half of it, and that the bridge and nacelles are addad after I'm done, which would mean a further increase in filesize. Next to that, it's probable that I will be deleting some of it's interior (yeah, it's got interior, I went completely nuts with it) to tone down the filesize.

So, people have been saying that adding a bevel to the model would be wise. But would it be in this case? Or would the model become uncontrolable? Some advice would be appreciated πŸ˜„

    • RE: A Welcome Message to New SketchUcation Members

Hiya peeps! I'm Michael, but frankly the whole interwebz knows me as BorgMan! I've been using SU5Pro for a couple of years now (from before the Google takeover), but I must say I'm quite happy with the program, with a switch to another 3D application nowhere near in sight. I usually model Star Trek (no cannon stuff, only my own) and sometimes dabble into architecture a bit; call it a hobby of mine πŸ˜‰ To be honest, the Google groups didn't really do it for me, so I decided to hop over here and see what you guys have to offer πŸ˜„

      So... Hi πŸ˜„
