    • RE: Re: orchestra pit in a church

      Several thoughts come to mind:

      1. Is the floor sloped?
      2. Are you using theater type seating?
      3. What are the 2 areas behind the podium?
      4. How high are the walls?
      5. If sound is an issue, why not change the acoustical background or the design of the stage?

I have a design of a church that will seat about 5000 people, somewhat similar on the floor plan. It covers about 1 1/3 acres under a clear-span roof. Let me know if you want to see it, I am still redrawing it in SU from DeltaCad.

    • RE: Why don't more people use SketchUp to place 3D components?

When I am adding a component to a drawing, I usually try to find it in 3D warehouse. If its not there I take the time to research it, as best as I can, and then draw it to suit my needs. My failure is not adding it to the warehouse once I am satisfied with it. That is something I will try to do more of in the future. I know that doesn't answer the main question, just wanted to see my name up in lights, sorry.

    • RE: Making an image of what's on the screen...

That did the trick, much easier than roaming around the screen waiting for it to change then holding down the shift key

      Thanks....Mike

      Gai, that worked great. Thanks.

Another question, how did you shift the inference in your tut without moving? Is there a shortcut I missed?

    • RE: Making an image of what's on the screen...

Gai, I have used your method of creating a sphere, your tut is a bit fast on one or two points. My problem is that my sphere keeps coming up with holes in it, top and bottom. What am I doing wrong?

Granted, but everyday is Saturday and your unemployed.

I wish it was 70 degrees year round in Alabama and I still lived here.

    • Text Editing?

Is there a way to edit the text that has been added without having to delete it and add the desired text?

    • RE: Reinforcement Rib

Jean and Greyhead were dead on the money. I had given thought to Jeans' very idea, thanks for the conformation, and had tried Greyhead's idea. I think Jeans' idea will do a better job with the profile and then push/pull or follow me.

    • Reinforcement Rib

How would one go about making a reinforcement rib on the surface of a component? A rib that would be indented on one side and protruded on the other?

    • RE: Most used scripts.

I did some learning on Alan's Menu2.rb. I spent about 30 hours learning how to manipulate it to my tastes (I dont mean to step on any toes by doing it), I just wanted more rubies than it offered initially. It is quite flexable and easy to add to. It took alot of trial and error on my part but I learned a lot also. I left all the credits in place and didnt add my name to the list either.

All that said, Menu2 is a great tool to organize your plugins somewhat neatly. You did good work Alan

      Edson,

I went back and redrew it after your suggestion. I set the number of segments to 90 just to see and you were absolutely correct. It was much smoother, and thanks.

    • RE: How to model corners of a cell phone?

Even though I'm not the one that started this topic, I would be interested in learning more about how to use the follow me tool to make this. I had given the follow me some thought while I was trying to work out a solution for the original post, but I don't have the expertise the two of you do. Looking forward to the lesson

Thanks for your comments, I went back and updated the scenes, but I dont know how to change the segments other than redo it all together.

    • RE: How to model corners of a cell phone?

I drew a simple face, rounded the corners, then pulled it up. I then backed off the edge where I wanted the bend to be and drew another set of lines to break the first. Next, I selected all the lines in the second section and rotated them down 15°. That rotated only the section that you wanted bent.

I hope this helps, don't know much about writing tutorials.

    • Setting Tool Tip?

I have noticed that some of the rubies give some tips on how to use it in the lower left hand side of the screen, similar to the parent program. How do you do this?

    • Request: Delete Construction Entities Script

This is probably simple for someone that knows how to write scripts. I know TIG has written 2 that delete construction lines and construction points. What I am looking for is one that deletes both at the same time rather than having to run both individually.
