I ran into the same problem after upgrading to Win 10. It took me a while to figure out what was happening. I don't recall permissions ever being any problem before when it comes to Materials.

I do pretty much all my presentations live from SU using joinme (it's US$20.00 month). I looked at literally dozens of apps that say theuy do this but sometimes a paid app works a lot better. I find I can do little drawing changes on the fly which goes over eally well with clients - I haven't tried a camera path yet but it shouldn't be a problem.

Hi Arnold, hi folks. Can you temporarily switch units to meters, insert your smart label and then switch back to millimeters? Just ideas.

Battery life is not really a concern, pilou, I've been carrying an old laptop with a dead battery for years now. I often travel to visit clients, I live in a country area and sometimes I do like to stop at a cafe and make some edits. Usually I'd be working at home on a workstation computer. I know its a small screen but that would be tolerable for a short session here and there, Kaas. I wonder if a surface pro 3 can load a house sized model for example and switch back and forth to Layout.

You're welcome. I modified the line style by adding a shorter version of the stroke. I also set the level of detail to max and killed the Halo setting. You can try it to see if you get better results. There is a still a limit to minimum line length displayed but it's half what it is in the original style. Here's a quick comparison. Thankyou, I can see myself using auto-text quite a bit. Now I can put autotext items anywhere on the page. I suspect this will work with view labels too.

As a further thought, the desire for "work planes" is sometimes due to an attempt to make SketchUp function like other CAD software. As Dave says, you should be free to use SketchUp the way that works best for you, but you should also try to learn and use the way it was designed.

Or use ctrl with p/p to add a face. You'll probably need to orient it correctly afterwards. Edit: I think I read the earlier post before it was edited to add the control option but I may be wrong and am just repeating the obvious.

I make section cutfaces, Tig's plugin I believe.... I use them in a few ways. I use them to block the view of the empty cavities of the structure in various views. I use them for Skalp and other SU hatch plugins. I use them via copy/paste into Layout to convert them into hatches. I leave them visible in elevations and floor plans so as to use them as references for section marks. Here's my architectural symbols scrapbook for layout. Sounds good, CASCA, I've got the dwg in layout now. Thanks. All I need to do now is learn about stroking and filling. There are lots of Illustrator similarities here but different enough to keep me guessing. But I can already smell that vector logo!
