TIG's 2D tools would be my recommendation to try out. You can install it using Sketchucation Tools https://sketchucation.com/plugin/696-sketchucationtools For the full parametric 2D to 3D workflow there's PlusSpec...if you've deep pockets https://youtu.be/1EBAbMLufaQ PlusSpec would pay for itself pretty quickly though

Well ... in the end it all comes down to the question which app you enjoy using the most. Try extensively, and then follow your gut.

Just did a check on where things stand with Rhino and VisualARQ for OSX. There is some progress! http://www.rhino3d.com/mac [image: CJxv_RhinoforMac.jpg] As regards VisualARQ, they say, "We certainly are very interested in developing a VisualARQ version for Rhino OSX, but we won't be able to adapt our plugin to run with Rhino’s Mac version until that version is 100% ready. Once the definitive Rhino OSX version is released(), our development team will be able to determine how much work/time we need for adapting VisualARQ to the OSX system".* Mike

@chris fullmer said: A beech hedge? Aren't beeches large trees? That must be some massive hedge! If you're trimming a beech hedge, it won't become a large tree... It's almost like a Bonzai tree... [image: SqP2_beech-hedge.jpg]

I personally think it would be great to try and emulate the interface that Lux has with blender (and yes I know that this has nothing to do with the actual exporter code). It is not quite a simple as skindigo, but I think its functions are more clearly laid out. If something as good as this could be implemented in sketchup (and as nice looking) it would be a first.

@ark said: In my work as an architect, I mostly use Sketchup to get a hold on the volumes. It's simply the best software for that purpose. Plans and elevations is done in Autocad Architecture (in my case). For a while I've been watching this community to be updated on the use of Sketchup. And it's remarkeble what you can do, mostly very detailed work for rendering purpose. But how do you use sketchup for architectural presentations? Is it for clean renderings, for simple "2D" plans and elevations, perspektiv sketches, volumes for handsketching on tracingpaper or......? I mostly use LightWave it provides 3D visualization, free cross-platform render nodes animation tools and much more.

artlantis is a very good app, very easy to learn and use. its problem is, like others, its price tag.

Ark, If you are "trimming" grass components, you will probably end up with some unbearable edge/face count in your model. As grass is (most of the time) not shown from very close, it may be wise to use png images with alpha transparency like in this grass component. Note however that this can also be a bit heavy to use all over the place so you might want to put it onto a separate layer and only turn its visibility on when exporting images.
