As far as texturing I'm talking about cladding and gypsum so that I can show client specified materials and that I don't lose those materials when a client makes changes and the walls need rebuilt.

Any chance to be able to add our own textures to the walls ? Would it be possible to just have a library that we could add too......would like to see that also in the roof textures with the truss tool.

      Nathaniel,
Been following your progress with great interest, your plug-in is really looking good now!
Anxious to try it out, when ready of course. (No pressure)

      Best regards,
      Charlie

Me too, looks like a very robust plugin. My question is will there be some kind of library that we could add our own window/door and trim styles to ? Would make it a much more useful tool to me as I have tons of Pella and Anderson speced windows already with quite a bit of modeling time invested.

Add a skirt to your terrain then the section cut should work.

You'll also have to know what coordinate system the survey was done in if you want to have it be geolocated in Sketchup

    • RE: HTC Vive

Well finally got around to getting the Vive setup. Steam was a bit of a PIA, wouldn't connect to the server from the Vive setup, had to go to Steam, download and install from there which took 3 times for some reason, all in all bout 2 hr setup from mounting the base stations, to installing software, creating Vive and Steam accounts, and going through the setup. As a side note took about an hour to get Sketchup setup on the new rig, why after all these years can't I export a customization file from sketchup and import into a new install? Such a pain setting toolbars up. Oh well tomorrow I'll get Enscape up and running.

Thanks for the reply, checked out their site and some YouTube videos, looks pretty simple, think this is the route I'll take.

    • HTC Vive

I have a model that I would like the client to "walk through". I was thinking of the HTC Vive and I guess some 3rd party viewer like Sketchfab or Simlab. Has anyone done this and can share some process and/or suggestions? TIA

I find getting any georefenced data into SU a PIA requiring some kind of work arounds. Why don't you use 2 reference points so then you can rotate your data?

Use the stamp tool to cut a hole in the terrain, then you'll have to clean up the trees, see pic.

I ended up going with strucalc, price wasn't bad, plenty of youtube videos, and pretty straight forward learning curve.

    • Software suggestions ??

I'm looking for wood framing structural analysis software. Preferably one that I can import a model into, type in my required loads, link my loads, and get a decent report. Definitely doesn't have to be free but also don't want to take out a mortgage to buy it.....lol. Any suggestions ?? TIA

    • RE: Display Section Planes - RESETTING

You have to update your scenes. If a section plane is visble when you create a scene it will remain visible in that seen even if you hide the section plane. You need to hide it and then update the scene.
