Tom, it is 6.1 and besides SU, no problems with PS CS3 Extended or Cadsoft Envisioneer, my other two mostly used programs.

@Tom, this will probally piss some people off who just shelled out a few bucks for high end graphic cards. I have intergrated Nvidia graphics 6150SE nForce430 with 623mb total memory of which only 128mb is dedicated and am using the latest driver 169.25. At one point I was thinking of upgrading but I've never had a problem with any of my models because all are pretty small, also there was the column and crowd test skps floating around which I was able to fly through without any problems. So as the saying goes, if it ain't broke..... But the point being is that I am using the latest Nvidia driver and intellipoint.
Mike

Is it possible that some other software on Toms and Erics system is conflicting with intellipoint 6.1 and it's just showing up in SU? I have it installed, have different button setups for a few programs, and have never had a problem with SU or any other program. Hope I didn't just jinx myself. Anyway just a thought.

Nice renders, nifty little trick with the aerial image, the second try defintely turned out much better, blends together much nicer, but I agree with Gaieus, the upshot is my favorite.
Mike
Thank you for the quick response Frederik, you were correct in that the problem was how I was placing the spotlights. I am just starting to take a serious try at KT, bit of a learning curve but I'm making progress and hope to post some decent renders soon.
Mike
I posted this over at KT but figured I would post here too, hoping to get a quick response.Don't know if I'm missing something or this is another Vista issue but I've read Fletchs tut for turning spot lights to IES lights several times, have done everything as was explained. When I click edit spotlight to check it, the IES file is there (see pic). But when I render, I get no lighting. I have tried different IES files, putting them in different folders, tried different presets when rendering, yet no lights. Am I missing something?
Mike

that finds these SU hearts are little distracting and annoying? I feel like I'm on one of my kids myspace pages.
Mike
That looks very good, especially the water. But I would change the tree to one a little more realistic or use a good clip map.
Mike
That's ok. The model isn't that good, was basicially a challenge for myself. I was surprised at how hard it's to model a toilet bowl with all the curves. Maybe someone has a good method for this?
Mike
tinanne, actually the skippy (component) is also attached above.
Mike
Edit
nevermind just saw that you removed your previous post.
@ urgen, yes they really exist, here's a link http://www.caroma.com.au/products/index_profile.html
Someone on another forum I visit was looking for a model so I thought it was an interesting challenge.
@ tomsdesk and Alan Fraser, I think that the stainless steel units are more commercial where as these are aimed at the residential market.
@ Frederik, I wish that I could claim that as my rendering but it's a photo from their website
And my model doesn't look nearly as good
Mike
Very nice indeed, I was also wondering if the details were done in SU, what about the hatching, is it just line work, also was this done in layout or were the images exported from SU into something else? IMO that's what SU is missing, a good workflow for construction drawings, if layout ever gets out of beta then maybe. SU would really be an all around package then, design, modeling, renderings(via plugins), and CDs.
Mike
Just curious if anybody actually seen one of these installed. I imagine it's not real convenient to use.
Mike
Edit, I cleaned up the file so now its half the size it was.

Thanks Bytor, looking forward to seeing more of the collection.
Mike
Thanks Mike, another handy piece, you working your way through the whole IKEA catalog or what?
Mike
There are actually quite a few render farm services, here are just a coulpe that have online price "quotes", I guess if you're getting that kind of money you can afford these services, http://www.rebusfarm.com/ http://www.rendercore.com/rendercoreweb/index.do
I don't think that there is one "perfect" software especially when it's being used for design, modeling, animation, rendering, and presentation, there probably never will be. "Falling Water" wasn't modeled and animated using just one app. I think the trick is to find the right combination for your workflow and desired results. Everyone here uses more than one app to get the result they want and I think that most everyone will agree that SU has improved their workflow. However that doesn't mean that there isn't needed improvements for SU and Layout and hopefully as CraigD has stated, they are coming.
Mike
It's laughing all the way to the bank with someones $90,000 USD.
