OK, we can stretch it vertically, but often, my list of groups fills the entire window. No white space. Clicking in the white space to the side of a group selects that group. If we could simply click on the top-level model name to deselect everything (like you can in Windows)...I think it was CraigD who agreed this should be implemented, but that was over a year ago... There are a LOT of problems with the Mac Outliner...but that's for another place... Oh, and thanks for the tip, Johnny!

Obviously the file itself needs some bytes (save an emty one to see how much) and additionally, the info about where, what size, how rotated etc. of the individual instances are also takes up some space. Obviously, with more complex components, the "profit" is bigger.

I usually make my parking lines 100mm wide by say 5500mm long and construct one of them using the rectangle tool.... I then fill the rectangle with White..... then I copy the White filled recatangle to create each of the carparking spaces and then soften (hide) the black lines. You are then left with a 100mm wide white line with no black line borders. Seems to work well but it can be tedious if you have a very large carpark. Cheers, Gareth

When you print a vector PDF, either by clicking on the "use high-accuracy HLR" option in the Print dialog, or by exporting a PDF via the Export>2D Image function, the SU view is exported as a 2D image with vector lines and flat-colour fills. It seems to me too that no settings in the shadow settings dialog, like the light and dark sliders, or the "use sun for shading" have any effect on the darkness and colours of the generated fills. I don't know if it is a bug, or just a feature lacking... Anssi

I have often wondered why a shadow couldn't be expressed as a material. I think you're on to something here, Tim. I'm sure the SU gurus have pondered this, yes?

gai and dan, i apologise for my moment of stupidity. of course i know the move/copy sequence but somehow i totally forgot the control+C way. what i was probably after is something like there is in vectorworks: control+D duplicates the object and leaves it on the same spot. then you can move it by a specific distante through a dialog box. but one can do basically the same with move/copy. sorry and thanks.

When you are exporting to 3ds...or anything else for that matter...you need to go into the export options (small, hiding-in-plain-sight button on lower right of export dialog box)and uncheck the Export stand alone edges box. You should only need to do this once.

AndyC, I experienced the same with ATi HD 2xxx series cards... not the best solution to use with SU... For my new machine I chose a Nvidia Quadro (FX2500 / 512MB). It works perfectly for SU.

Well thanks guys, I really thought I had tried that before, but I never did because I thought it always would say "Save As" instead of "Save Link As". For some reason i thought that "Save Link As" would save the internet address. Thanks again. I should have known better.

He must have - it works now without the "workaround". Downloaded and works fine.
