Thank you Charlie. Thanks for the tutorial should go to Box. As for the stretchers on the floor, it is an odd thing. This piece was made that way or maybe they dragged the table around enough over the years to wear the legs down. I don't think I'd build the table with the stretchers right down on the floor like this because it would accentuate an uneven floor. But that's the way the original was made so that's what I drew. And stretcher is indeed the correct word.

Well dense would be appropriate. It's more edges than I would have chosen to use but from the file I started with, it would have been a whole lot of work to do more cleaning than I did and I decided it wasn't worth the time to reduce the entity count.

I think that does it. Thanks to TIG for suggesting the wedged tenon and to Charlie for producing yet another version of the joint. Best, dh

Thanks, Tuna. It might help if the piece were made of soft wood.

Here's another vote for some GOOD wood textures. The only reason I use the seamless textures is because that is all that is available.

nlipovac, thanks for the thumb. to answer your question.... left space under shelf open because of the need for unobstructed space for cable box , dvd player etc. I see no gain in trying to hide center case support between the drawers. it would also unnecessarily complicate the build. just my feeling.

Thanks for the info and reference to vCarve. Been interested in CNC for a long time, and hope to be in a position to invest in a machine sometime over this next year. SU/vCarve looks like a good software solution.

You're right. It is fun to create a model for the heck of it, and the more complex the better. I just finished a job for a colleague that had me do fully detailed models of 10 pieces of period furniture, working from an inaccurate cutlist, crummy exploded views, and some photos that didn't always show me what I needed to see. So, of course, the first thing I did after I completed the last model was to make another model for myself to put in the 3D Warehouse. Best, dh

slbaumgartner , thanks for the heads up about the drawer slides. I don't want to admit how many years it's been since I've really looked at what's available.
