IF you think that's cool (which it is), take a look at Autodesk's latest incarnation called Project Butterfly. How about CAD via the web? No software needed except a browser? Lots of features and can save out to standard .dwg file. Check it out at: http://labs.autodesk.com/technologies/butterfly/ Rick

English and Hungarian dictionaries (for spelling) along with dictionary switcher CaptureFox and ScreenGrab - capture whole webpages as images... FlagFox - tells where the website's server is located (forum admin stuff for spammer sites) FoxyTunes - to control what I am listening to... GoogleShrotcuts - practically a toolbar to easily access all my Google services from 3D Warehouse through Gmail to YouTube... Some Java helper extensions JSView (not compatible yet) to easily access javascripts and css files used on a website (mainly for curiosity as I also am an amateur website builder) RighToClick - enables context menu where it is disabled (some websites like to do this) Just to mention a few... Great find, thanks! My daughter loves to make her games with this http://sandboxgamemaker.com/component/content/article/5-latest-news/13-videos-showing-off-the-24-rc-1-release-coming-soon.html It is (was?) based on Cube engine - and that is something her daddy used to play with.

Unlike SKetchup that appeared as a cheap easy to use 3d choice between Autocad at the top end and, well, blender at the free end, I really can't see that Soft Office stands a chance. Open Office is free and easy to use with only very minor compatibility issues.

@linea said: Glen Bare in mind Progecad is for non-professional use and does not have even half the features that DoubleCAD has. jon Oh I agree, I've used them both and I like DoubleCAD better. Sure I had to learn the way it did certain things but if you need a free 2D dwg editor there is no better option IMHO. I did have an easier time with ProgeCAD to start with but saw what DoubleCAD had and it can be used commercially.

@amit raoot said: I dont know why people waste money on costly CAD Software's when they can get the same results with *****CAD . Anybody who is familiar with ****CAD can immediately use *****CAD without any training because the layout, commands, toolbars are almost same. For architects, engineers, interior designers, builders & developers. (links removed, and post edited) I know this thread is old, and I apologise for acting like a moderator, when I am not, but it really makes me annoyed when hard nosed salespeople use viral marketing techniques such as the method highlighted above. It's so easy to spot, once you know the technique. Some bloke comes in with the 'hard sell', then some 'other' (usually the same person), posing with a another's name- but almost always, just one post- ie, their first post to the forum (and with the same IP address too I may add!). This is spam of the ugliest order because it is so dishonest, and as a result, I won't be touching this PCAD software with a barge pole. Shame. As for the rest of the thread, I agree that cracked software is wrong- simply because, imho, cracking software allows the heavies to remain as the market leaders, because all those who have (illegal) copies, will be those very copies that are considered the industry standard. But I disagree with the statement about Autodesk charging so much because of illegal copies been made, as I think we are going back to the same philosophy behind Apple versus HP or Mercedes verses Ford. Autodesk charges so much for ACAD because they believe it's worth that much (technologies, R&D etc). Ridiculous really, especially for essentially what is a 2D vector application, with a bit of ACIS thrown in for a slice of the 3D experience. I'm rather pleased that Autodesk never bought Atlast software, as it may now cost thousands. It may also have ceased to exist, with the technology turning up in ACAD, Revit and Inventor (which, actually, it already has (licenced?)), in the latter two titles!

I just made a test with a .3ds file and yes, if you follow the wizard it has an option to recover stuff deleted from the Recycle bin. Unfortunately, it only shows the DOS names of files deleted from the Recycle Bin. BTW, the .3ds file was perfectly readable by SketchUp after recovering. [image: 8GeQ_Captura.JPG]

I'm using TotalCommander from Ghisler soft. http://www.ghisler.com I have always worked with this type of file manager since using diskMaster on the Commodore Amiga. I have tried many variations on Windows and this IMHO has to be one of the best. Warning: it's shareware, but very useful and cool! Even the rich library of available plugins.

I've used it for billboards, but as Pete says it's no good for 3D geometry. However, if you want a free billboard tree generator, you're probably better simply using Al Hart's plugin...or Arbaro...which can produce stunning results if you have the means of converting them to something useful. http://arbaro.sourceforge.net/ Unfortunately, for usable 3D trees in SU, there really is no alternative to building them yourself, by hand...albeit by maybe using some kind of modular system involving prefabricated branch parts.
