@massimo said: Thanks Steve. @unknownuser said: Curious tho - why is it called a Grasshopper lamp? Perhaps because it reminds a grasshopper? Well, that was my first thought. But I looked and looked at it and I just don't see a grasshopper there. Maybe a praying mantis? Well, anyhow, really nice work.

Thanks guys, i was just having a play, the structure and scene are just imaginary. Shura, funny thing you commented. You know I had your image in my mind when I was making this...remember your twilight renders of a latticed structure? That was very inspiring to me http://twilightrender.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=1664

Jason, I realize you posted the Police Precinct some time ago but as I recently joined I have just run into them. This is great set design work. I was interested in how you go from SU models and renderings to plans for the construction crew to build from. You've got a seriously impressive set (75'x150'!)which then needed to be translated into the real world. I did see that you said your SU model was used to resolve questions on the complicated ceiling construction which made me think that maybe they were not using your model to create the construction plans. I currently started using SU and Layout to create set designs / plans / and renderings but I am very interested in how you work and what you do after your rendering stage. Also, seeing as this was months ago I thought you could say what show it was for as I would love to see the final footage and how the set came out on camera. Cheers, Tim Larsen

Elegant and practical. Well done. Love the style as well. (but yeah, the vacuum cleaner is way too small)

@qqq said: Looks very fresh and dynamic! How much time did it take for rendering/assembling video? Each frame was about 4 to 5 seconds and the hole animation I can't remember exactly but it felt like around 6 hours. For video editing I first tried Adobe Premier Pro and I could not make the resolution stay good since it compressed the video too much. On the other hand Windows Movie Maker did not altered the resolution which is good. The time for video editing was really fast no more than 2 hours. Thanks

I'm not a horror game fan but I did play both dead space games, in fact I'm too scared to finish the second game but yes I loved the games and great work on those reconstructions, exact replica

Lumion is great option…I have tried their objects animation tools and I am afraid it is quite limited. It works for basic stuff like moving cars for example. My favorite plugin for animating objects inside SketchUp is “SimFonIA Animation Tools”. It provides a record video option that compiles all the individual frames to a video automatically and you decide the resolution which is good. There is more than one way to animate for example you can use key frames for recording multiple component and subcomponents positions which enables you to keep layering animations one on top of the other to achieve a more complex animation easily. Also you can record vertex’s positions for animation using the Deformation option inside the key frame editor to create more organic animations. For more options you can animate using the “Transformation Processor” which has lots of options in itself. From the video you have posted correct me if I am wrong but it seems you have “LightUp” for rendering? If so the “LightUp” can display the first component layer animation but sadly not the subcomponents animations but I have received feedback saying they are working directly with LightUp and Twightlight to have more compatibility with the plugin, fingers crossed. Overall the tools inside “SimFonIA Animation Tools” will enable you to animate your Bridge very easy plus you can maybe add moving water, trees, clouds, birds and so on. The best part in my opinion is that somehow the animation stays with the object so you can share it with other people or reuse it in another SketchUp project, don’t know how that is possible but it is. The learning curve took me a couple of hours to figure out that in order to activate the animation input for the key frames you had to assign a name to the animation inside the transformation processor but after that it was all good.
