@daniel said: Nice renderings, as usual, Jason. I've always been an advocate of including entourage in architectural renderings; in this case I think the problem is with these particular people - they don't seem to fit the scene of a practically empty ballroom. maybe a few wait staff setting tables. Smart!!!!

Daniel, "does it have a mercedes, swimming pool, and room for a pony?" They are all up at Trimble Palace Jeff, I'm hopeful Trimble will look after SU, but if it goes per shaped SU8 has everything I need at the moment. thanks John

Simplicity. There is, of course, some duplication of structure and material inherent in a modular system like this but the flexibility warrants it, I think. Here we have just a few pieces, the only essential one being the 16x16x16" cube, a 'no-waste' dimension based on US plywood size of 48x96". Base and top are optional, attachment blocks are made into a visual contributor (?). Inside face countersinks not shown! [image: PA7H_cubeshelving-1.JPG]

Wow.... This is a really well thought through project, you should be proud. I love the post renders. Im also an architect student, from Manchester (uk) i was enquiring if i could use your project as an example in my dissertation about the "rise and downfall of corten steel" (its a bit boring haha) and im intrigued at the 3d details you have produced and wondered if you had any cad details (just jpegs) to support those brilliant renders? Its ok if not- great work anyway just thought id chance my arm and enquire. Karl Braidwood

Nice render and I'll bet it was very time efficient to complete.

I saw a twitch in this horse's left nostril. Besides, chambered nautilii really don't look like this. This one is with 'follow me and rotate': settings: rotate 0, scale 1.03; 24 segment face flat helix. follow me and rotate-settings-rotate 0 scale 1.03 24 segment face flat helix.JPG [image: MbWR_followmeandrotate-settings-rotate0scale1.0324segmentfaceflathelix.JPG]

David, It's a treat and a great help to follow your thoughts on this. I like this last one best! The background forest in the former one was a little "threatening". With the foreground, this is very friendly but I wonder if the owners expected a sand driveway. It looks like one of the victims of the recession. Never leased or got the parking lot. Peter

@stefanq: thanks for the tip on nomers composition tutorial. I've learned a few things. I've noticed that there are a lot of tutorials for SU and other 3d modeling software that cover the basics like basic modeling, texturing light setup and rendering, but not a lot of good tutorials for more advanced things like compositing, material creation(accurate)and environment modeling. @seven.sides said: This is a very nice image, has a good colour balance and feel to it. Enough contrast but not overdone. The birds flying over bring the scene to life. I've often thought a still render could be enhanced by animated elements such as this as a kind of short animation clip, maybe that loops. thanks, seven.

The modelling looks very good and clean. From recently using Maxwell I can advise that in order to successfully render interiors, it is necessary to alter the physical camera settings (I made the classic mistake of increasing the light intensity to compensate for a dark render). To me the render looks a bit dark, so change the ISO settings of the camera "film" to a higher value. If it is currently 100, try 400 and then 800. This mimicks the use of settings on a real world camera within the renderer. Enjoy

Very nice and very clean. The sky might work better if it was flipped horizontally, that way you would have the dark clouds accentuated against the 2 outside lights. It would also pick up the reflected light on the right hand gable which seems to suggest the brightest part of the sky is to the right.
