    • RE: [Plugin] FloorGenerator ( Updated 6-Apr-2017)

I saw it posted on the first page of this plugin, a LAP setting would be AMAZING.

I'm in Architectural Visualization and material properties don't allow for accurate displacement maps. A plugin like this is tantalizingly close to creating the repeating clap/lap siding which our pro-user group needs. Sketchup has been blessed with rendering engines but this modelling aid is missing!

We need a script to make lap and shingle siding!

my shortcut is to use extrude edges by vector.

Can you share a screenshot of your method?

I've been aspiring for months to create building renderings using SketchUp + Vray. I somehow keep returning to this exact thread as I'm sure others have aswell. Hope you can share.

Reporting back to say that 3.0 is not working, behaving same as before.
Furthermore the extension manager lists 'hole punch' and the accompanying 'DeBazier' as unsigned.
Ruby window shows no error, tried with a few different components.

TIG, thanks for the reply. I've tried your test (details below) and a couple different windows now; no luck. Sketchup file attached. I've seen the plugin used on tutorials/YouTube and could swear I'm doing it right.

To test this please make two 3d [two faced] walls - ensuring that their front faces are looking 'outwards'.

I made one wall by extruding a rectangle; ensuring the 'normals' faced outward. I grouped the wall then copied it in front of itself to create a common co-planar face. I tried using Hole Punch with a transparent rectangle cutting the co-planar face. The result was the removal of the cutting face (as before).

Thanks for what looks like a great plugin, I'm here to report it's not working for me (Sketchup pro 2017 Win, tried with sketchup 2016). After following your instructions closely the plugin hangs for close to five minutes, then removes the component's original cut opening. furthermore the plugin doesn't create the second cutting face, it only fills in the original hole. I was sure to drag a new components form the component library every time I was trying to cut, as you've pointed out to many others on this thread.

I'd be happy to pay for support for this plugin but seeing as it's free I'll just have to hope TIG can help.

    • Vray Materials Show As Grey, Sketchup Material Synch

      Hey all,

I've got a fairly interesting problem where vray materials are displaying as grey instead of textured in Sketchup 2015, with vray 2.

When inspecting the material in sketchup's material pannel 'texture > use texture image' tab is turned off (unchecked) and the file location is not set. The problem seems to be that the sketchup material created automatically when adding vray material is not added with a texture image (just a solid grey color). Vray material map slots point toward jpegs and all scenes render correctly with vray

The same material packs open and act normal in rhino 5, vray 1.49.02 and old sketchup 8/vray 1.49.01 models open in 2015 with functioning vray materials. After a recent uninstall and upgrade the same problem is presenting in sketchup 2016, vray 2.00.25, materials are from Flying architecture website (fully functional, not outdated, not suspect).

How does sketchup automatically sync between the sketchup material and the vray material?

Thanks for the help you bunch of sexy mavericks,

      @lbert

Problem seems to be in the sketchup texture file synchronizing with vray. The very important texture file is missing from the skethcup material, and it cannot be re-attached

Vray material seems to be working indipendantly of skethcup
