    • Why does all material get displacement?

      HellO
I wanted to test displacement to make the grass lock more real and I was glad with the result even if it's probably possible to make it much better but what bothers me is the other material.

Here is my first image without displacement
      Översikt - Copy.jpg

Here is my second image with displacement.

      Översikt3.jpg

The grass locks mush better but of some reason the driveway also got displacement and I can't find the settings to remove it. Any idea about what could have gone wrong? If i copy the driveway with the same material inside another model the displacement disappear so it most have something to do with the model but I can't find the settings.

    • Help with rendering a fire

      Hello
For a long time ago I was testing Vray and at that time I learn through a guide how to do a nice fireplace put now even if I try to use the same guide I can't get it right, does someone here know how to do a fire that's light up in the right color without using photoshop?

I am quite sure that I was using this guide but I never use photoshop or other program to edit the picture.

It would definitely be possible. You would have to create an "x-ray" style equivalent material in V-Ray and apply it to the component you are trying to highlight to have the effect your looking for. Try the material I've created and attached. Its going to render a bit more slowly, but it should work for what you are trying.

I maybe wasn't clear enough but I would like to use X-Ray one everything except the componen I want to highlight so that it's easier to see. It would be a lot of work if I would have to change all other material in the model to be X-Ray.

    • RE: Separately styles for components

I think I know a solution that don't need PS or layout. I take one picture of the component and background then a new picture with the hole model. Then I could take both in to PowerPoint and place the second picture above the first one and then I make it transparent to some degree that looks good. Maybe I have to take three picture where the selected component is at top but I don't need photoshop at least 😄

    • Separately styles for components

      Hello
I'm about to do my last big project on university and in that work I will do a model I sketchup and use vray for photo realistic video. In the presentation I would like to highlight different components and a idea I got was to use different styles on selected components. My presentation would be like a movie there I will point out different components in the model at different times and then I got the idea to use styles. The idea was to have the normal "shaded with textures" on the selected component and "X-Ray" on the rest of the model. Is this possible or do I need to use photoshop or similar program and take to separate photos and add them toghether?

it stay that it´s on 800MHz instead of 1600, any ide why?

ahh, ok... this is the normal setting for 1600MHz. DDR stands for Double Data Rate, so 800MHZ = 1600MHZ, as displayed in your screenshot. 😉

...but cl 11 is a bit slow. cl 10 should be possible or is this the normal spec for 1600 for this RAM?

What does cl stands for and how do I chance it?

I found "Aerocool Shark Fan Evil Black Edition - 120mm" and this look very good if you look cfm/dm and it doesn't cost so much either. It blow 82,6 cfm and sound 26,5 db plus it comes with a reduction cable so it goes down from 12 V to 7 V and then it blow sound 12,6 db amd blow 32,5 cfm. And this one cost about 50% less

I was thinking about get some new fans, backside of the CPU cooler, exhaust fan at the back any mayby set a fan in the three 5.25 bays. Do you have any tip on a fan that have good airflow relatively to sound?

I have not chance any settings for the ram.

I have test prim95 to stress test my overclocking but because a choose the case I do I have just come up to 3.9 GHz and then the temp of the processor is up to nearly 70° so I stop at 3.8 GHz. I would try this weekend to rotate the hdd cage so I could get through more air there and hopefully I can get the temp down I littel 😄

I read somewhere that you get the tempature down if you remove the grill for the exhaust fan at the back so I going to think about that.

When I look in the bios, it stands that the ram is 800 MHz but it is 1600 MHz so what could be wrong, could I overclock it?

    • RE: New Computer

I have overclock it now little so then I use prim and have 3.9 GHz temp go up to 70°C. Where was no information on the site there I bought the CPU cooler so I hade choose wrong, the 140mm didn't fit in my chassi so had to change it to the 120mm instead. I think the fan speed is on max but I don't know, have to check.
The big problem is that I choose wrong chassi, there the air could go in is to small and when you have a fan in the front it nearly block all. At the back of the front fan there is blockt by the harddrivs bay I am going to set a fan at the tree 5.25 bays that I don't use so I can get in air from there. The little problem with that is that I was stupid to not take a modular PSU so I have to think over how I should fix that.

Here is some picture of how it's look now

I have now ger everything to work and without any changes the core is between 3.7 and 3.9 GHz and the tempature is up to 63°C at full load.
The rendering go mush faster then my older computer so that is nice but it takes very long time from that I start the rendering to it really starts, would it get faster if I overclock it and how high tempature can I get without get worried?
