      Drape doesn't seem to be working with a model created in 2013. This is awesome.

      Gotta agree with Andy on this. Another lack luster upgrade is quite disappointing. We could have at least got a 3 point circle for the love of Pete. I just dont get it. The arc tools are not even useful? Was this some kind of joke?

      Seriously? We still have clip plane issue on large models? What the heck man! This is a 2007 problem.

      I would just add that reflection in post for total control.

      DR in 1.49.01 was always broken I believe. I really need to implore you to invest in the upgrade to 2.0 where DR is flawless now.

    • RE: Sketchup crashes everytime import vismat

      You can always learn how to create your own materials. I hardly ever load vismat files, especially from random websites. Most of those files were probably create in 1.05.30 or earlier!

      Sounds like you have no light in your scene. Is it an interior using emmitters as lights? Is your GI turned off?

    • RE: Shadows and sunlight

      You are most likely not going to get shadows unless you have lights in your scene casting them. Are you using Sunlight for your Environment or just a color? Do you have any lights in the room? What kind are they. I always point people to this article which is how a real photog would setup a shoot. We should look at things the same way.

      If it's an old vismat, you probably should just remake it. A lot has changed in the last couple of releases and old vismats might have issues.

    • RE: How to send batch renderings?

      I don't think batch rendering is in the current public release. It's in the works for the next maintenance release for sure as I have seen and used it. For now, I think you have to use the old Animation to 1 FPS trick, and this method DOES NOT recognize layer state changes.

    • RE: Indirect illumination question

      @andybot said:

      yep, animation gets complicated quickly. If you had something like Adobe AfterEffects, you could use the MaterialID as a mask in the video, but doing a batch process in PS would still be tedious. That's basically why I was thinking if you can counter-effect the color shift directly in the render by playing with colors, it may be a lot simpler once you get something you like directly from vray.

      I think if you made an action that uses Select Color Range and you pick that ID color and run that batch, it should work effectively.

    • RE: Change default texture directories help

      This might work. It was a trick that Devin sent me a while back..

      *you can add paths now that you want V-Ray to search through. Just open C:\ProgramData\ASGVIS\V-Ray For SketchUp.ini. Pick a spot where you want to add something, and add the following:

      [search_path]
      path=C:/additional_search_path_folder/anotherDir, C:/funkytown

      just separate each path with a comma and a space, we should be good from there.*

    • RE: Vray distributed render question

      Be aware that Chaos Group changed the way they license the spawner nodes in 3.0

      We are not affected by this in 2.0, but I would think that V-Ray for SketchUp 3.0 will be in the future.

    • RE: Best free render?

      The best free engine is Kerkythea because it is truly open source and has no limitations. I would recommend playing with Maxwell if you don't need to render high resolution images. Having your engine stay withing SketchUp is very useful and is a time saver.

    • RE: How to Render Sharp Lines/image in vray sketchup?!

      There are a host of things you can do.

      Try using Catmull Rom AA filter and increase your Image sampler settings -
      Adaptive DMC Min 2 Max 12
      Clr thresh .003
      Increase your render size

      • all of these things will increase render times dramatically.
