I am very interested in the RT version as it looks to be very fast.

I am going to try the demo tonight. If anybody posts some images could you tell me how long they took to render?

      Looks cool and good price.

      Thanks!

    • RE: Painting Image onto surface plane

Sorry to borrow the thread but how do you make a face 2048 wide so you get the "perfect" resolution from my 2048 image?

Meaning, I cut my image up into 2048 dpi segments and I want to apply them to a face. Do I just eyeball it or is there another way?

      maybe I am misunderstanding...

thanks, sorry to ask out of turn.

    • RE: Calculate button in a messagebox?

Hi Jeff. (thanks Dan for the link.)

I want to develop a ruby for a concrete design class I teach.

The goal is to input variables and hit calculate to see if the variables you chose make a strong enough concrete beam. Then you would hit draw the cross section.

I would also like to add a list of rebar sizes that a user can choose from a drop down bar and that would go in the cross-section.

Hopefully this will encourage then to learn sketchup!

here is my first noobie ruby attempt.

      thanks!

    • Calculate button in a messagebox?

I was trying to write a little ruby, where you can enter some numbers in a dialog box (messagebox?) and before the window closes you can hit a calculate button.

The button would trigger a calculation using the numbers you entered. When you are satisfied with your results you could hit a "draw" button (in the same window) and it would use the info to draw a shape. Sort of like a calculator? with a draw feature.

Why..well I want to calculate the cross-section of a beam I would need for a certain moment, changing variables until I get what I want, and then draw it.

      Is this possible?

      thanks!

    • RE: Upload scenes to Google warehouse

      Thanks for the help!

Dumb me, I was using the "get models" under the file menu. When you import models this way you get just the model. If you go to google warehouse with a web browser and then click "download model" and then click "open in sketchup" you get the scenes.

I did not know that layers that are turned off could be a problem. I will check this out.

thanks again! I think I need the "stupid" ruby mentioned earlier.... πŸ˜›

Yes exactly, thanks! (I tried it a couple of times but it didn't work. I will check my settings, scenes and try again.)

Does the forum have a name for the times you feel like a Homer Simpson for asking dumb questions?

Sorry I have searched and did not find an answer.

Can scenes be included in models uploaded to Google 3D warehouse?

      Thanks for the help!

    • RE: Website help.

      Pete do this.

Go to cpanel and buy a new domain name. They are cheap and you can worry about your old one later.

After you buy it, go to cpanel, software/services and hit wordpress. Down at the bottom left corner hit install. It will prompt for your new url. It will install a fresh copy of wordpress and give you the login information.

Login and add a picture. have a beer. (or two)

    • RE: Website help.

I'm not sure Hostmonster will redirect your name servers. Since your domain name is managed by another party they cannot access them.

You could redirect the name servers yourself but you do not have any files in your hostmonster public_html directory to redirect them to....

      Steps I would suggest.

      Go to cpanel

      go to domains

      go to transfer domains

      they have a video
      https://www.hostmonster.com/cgi/help/transfer

hostmonster will transfer your domain to them. Then you have full control of everything at hostmonster.

Now do you want another website or do you want to use your domain for a wordpress site?

If website, build you website on your computer and upload it to the public_html directory. If a wordpress site, go to software services, wordpress, install at the bottom of the page.

If you use wordpress you will have to upload all your images to your wordpress blog. Be careful you will get a totally clean blog and you will start from scratch....

I would recommend transferring your domain from the other guys and downloading and uploading your existing site into hostmonster as a start.

    • RE: Website help.

Step away from cpanel...you want to secure all your original website data first!

TNameservers for a domain name are specialized servers that translate the domain name into an IP Address that is understood by computers on the internet. Each domain name registration includes a listing of nameservers that can answer for that domain name. Normally you should not need to change these from the default nameservers setup by HostMonster.Com. If your domain name is not currently pointing to our nameservers, in order for your domain name to work with this hosting account, you will need to either:
      (a) transfer your domain name to use our registrar, or
      (b) configure the nameserver settings at the domain's current registrar to point to our nameservers:

    • RE: Website help.

Pete, hostmonster typically gives you one free domain registration. I would suggest using your current domain url for a traditional website for commerce and then register a new domain for a wordpress blog.

Both would have unique urls and you can cross pollinate the material. (both work under your current plan.) Bonus having your work in multiple places plus you can use the wordpress postings on sketchucation instead of photobucket.

The blog would be a great place to show your process, work (which is fantastic) and give customers a great place to see WIP.
