RE: Scale function
Thanks but have discovered the answer: if you move the cursor around the circumference it highlights the circle in blue however when the curse is moved over a point at which you can scale this way the highlight will momentarily disappear, foolproof and cool but I can only find 2 such points on any cir

RE: Scale function
Thanks Gaieus, I could only find the points on a circle when I create the circle with a start point on the axis intersection point. When I create one away from that point I am unable to identify any of those points is there any other way to identify them?

Scale function
Hi all, was just creating a cylinder when the bottom circle stated scaling when I moved my cursor. It did not have a bounding box and scaled proportionately around the central axis. It was possible to make a perfect cone or truncated cone. Could not do it again, can anyone tell me what I did to make it work again? cool tool I never knew SU had

RE: Sketchup pro ugrade, should I?
Thanks Mick, just a tip I used to use autocad but I now use BRICSCAD if you have not heard of it it is just as good as AUTOCAD by Autode$k. But costs less than the annual upgrade from Autode$k about $400.00 It is just as good, to the degree That if you send a file to an Autocad user it shows as an Autocad file in native DWG, with zero learning curve. The icons are the same, it is also easier on RAM
Oh and if you have a problem they will fix it within the day unlike autocad who will ignore you once you have cashed out.

Sketchup pro ugrade, should I?
Hi all, I am thinking of upgrading to sketchup pro. I use sketchup on a daily basis for landscape architectural stuff. Thinking of upgrading and want to hear from others who have upgraded. Presentation is not an issue as I export into AUTOCAD for that, I am mainly interested in easier/better modeling such as I am aware of the boolean function, Are there any other useful functions like that? Can someone please explain there experiences about the advantages of switching to pro?
Thanks Guys

RE: Problem using plug-ins
Just a thought, and possibly a naive one ( I have a very limited understanding of computers ) What about some guru writes a a standard 'install' program that you download and it prompts you through the process.
You know.....NEXT......NEXT.......install.....restart program. Perhaps the ruby developer uses a standard template, installs their plugin in the standard template so it is downloaded as a package, where the use simply follows the prompts.
I have had many issues with installing plug-ins with varying degrees of success, and have read many requests for assistance, such as above. I think it is time that either Google or some talented skethucation guru try and Remedy this. Seems like such a sophisticated friendly product has a untidy interface with installing plugins. Evidenced by the amount of traffic this issue has.Am interested to find the views of others on this
Thanks

Dwg to SKP
Hi Guys, I am requiring a model of a playground slide. I found one I like but only a DWG 3d model. I am not using pro at the moment (will do when money permits) Is there anyway of converting it to an SKP file?
Thank you
(Edited) I think there may not be a way to do it. I have attached a 3D DWG Could some kind person covert it for me ins an SKP file? It would be very much appreciated
Thanks in advance

Text onto transparent suface
Hi all, I am trying to put some text on a glass spherical surface (like a stamp on a lamp globe) I am aware now of texture mapping projection onto a surface, but I cant use that in the normal manner as the surface on which the text is on will also project. To cut a long story short I need to project text onto a transparent glass surface and only the text.
Can anyone help with this one.
Thanks guys

RE: Modeling and rendering (update 2013.08.02)[watch last page]
I think I would give the wood on end of the kitchen cupboard in the first image, another sand and a bit of wood filler and re-oil it.
Jealous much!!

RE: Australia Day
Hi all, thought I would share this photo. I was taken Australia Day 2007 (I did not take the photo) it is genuine,I was there, Perth Western Australia. We never have lightning this time of year............. and if you look in the middle of the image you will see a comet. You will need to click on the image to see it.
Do not expect to see that again any time soon
Hope you enjoy

RE: Last work
Generaly very cool, cannot make out what material is on the floor. I think the coloured people do not work, they confuse the whole thing. They look like public art and make the colour scheme 'pop' to much which makes the interior dificult to read. I would suggest a more nuetral abstraction for them.
Good luck

RE: Chose your deckchair
Design considerations for the cushion. The No 4 option is ok in regards to drainage (look at fabrics such as: Phifertex
) the main concern is its ability to conform to the curvilinear surface without assistance other than gravity. This will depend on the fabric/filler combination. The articulated versions (smaller the better) would more readily conform to the surface. If you use a professional upholsterer they should know. If you can get the right materials combination for number 4 it will be cheaper as there is considerably less work in it. Might pay to employ ties or Velcro to force the cushion to conform to the surface form, for version 4, best of both worlds.

RE: Chose your deckchair
I like the cusions in the order 4,3,2. what an awsome birthday present! not bought, but built!
Oh by the way it is only illegal if you comercialise it I an not a lawyer but that is my understanding
I have attached an image of a modification sugestion for your consideration. (Rear leg end point)
Can I sugest you do a visual where the cusion extends beyond the extent of the "slats" by say 30mm I think that would really work
