SketchUp Kids Summer Camp
I am thrilled to announce that our Google SketchUp Summer Camp for Kids is available for licensing for the 2009 Summer Season.
(Note to moderators: I do hope this is viewed as informational and is not violating any policies. I will understand if you feel it does. While this is a business venture, I really feel so good to be doing something to promote SketchUp to the 3D community of tommorrow. Can you hear the enthusiasm in my voice?)
We have 2 full day 1 week programs: 1) ages 9 -11 2) ages 12 - 15We have web based training available for the counselors, unlimited toll free phone support and manuals included in the license fees. We are a Google SketchUp Authorized Training Centre, but this course has been devised solely by Entourage Arts.

RE: Axis On or Off?
Yeah, and I haven't been called a "girl" for many years. Note to Kidlike sales persons out there: The tip is smaller when you call me "Ma'am"

Thanks Bruce, I quite agree.
And actually, I wasn't kidding, that pic is right out of my era and I think you were HOT! -

RE: Watermarks
Actually there is another thing you need to do. When you make the watermark, you need to decide if you want to update the current style globally, which clearly you do not, or to create a brand new style. Create a new style by cliking on the plus sign in the top right sideo of the style browser watermark tab that you are working in.
THEN can update the scene tab with the new style active. -
RE: Axis On or Off?
Actually, I don't think it matters what sort of design professional you are. If you are merely playing around and creagting objects for your own interest, having axis on is of no interest. As soon as you need to create a complex model where you either have complex relationships or need to adhere to some sort of plans, you really need the axis. At the very least using the axis locking arrow keys is not easy if you have axis off and then you are forced to only use the shift option.

Axis On or Off?
You need to settle disagreement.
Someone just told me that they beleive that most architects, model in SketchUp with the axis turned off because it is annoying. I disagreed. So now I'm curious:
You out there, On or Off? -
RE: HAPPY BIRTHDAY Todd Burch !!!
I'm glad you were, I wasn't here at the right time and would have missed it completely.
Happy Birthday and very best wishes Todd.

RE: Flip horizontally
Flip.
right click on the object you wish to click ( assuming it is a group or component, otherwise select it all first and then right click) look for "flip along" and choose the flip axis direction from the sub menu -
RE: Use of SketchUp Logo.
Well, I wrote to my marketing contacts directly at SketchUp HQ and I have had no response thus far, but I expect the decsion isn't from them any way. They would need to be willing to intervene on my behalf.
On the Google site, there is no way to contact them at all regarding this subject. There are contact us forms for things like using their webtools, but no one to tell that a link isn't working properly or to ask a question about the logo.
exasperating really. -
Use of SketchUp Logo.
Trying to be a good coroporate citizen, I searched on Google permissions to get proper permission for a use of the Google SketchUp Logo that is outside of my regular usage as an Authorized Training Center.
The link to the permission form on their site doesn't work. It times out. Has for the last 3 days.I can't even ask permission and they are pretty serious about sending warnings about unauthorized use.
My suspicion is that they won't allow it but it is frustrating.
So the question is, does anyone know if using the old @Last version of the logo constitute some sort of violation?I see it in use for the SketchUcation forums. So maybe I could content myself with that if it is "kosher"
Anyone know? -
RE: I guess we can just give up on ver 7
Ah I bet the stock has split several times since 46, not a fair comparison

RE: Make Image Props
ah, it is an skp containing an image file. useless.
It won't cast a proper shadow this way.
YOu will need to explode the image. Draw segments all around the shape so that it will cast a tree liks shape. Erase the rectangle edges around the tree after you have created the tree shape. Hide the edges. Select all and create component. Make sure you move the component axis so it is at the center of the trunk so that it will swivel around that point when you make it a "face-me".
Then, when you have made it a component, right click on it and choose "save as" which will save only the tree component to any component library you have created.Don't know how to navigate more quickly through 3D warehouse except searching. Someone else may

RE: Do humans have a free will?
Oy, are you guys still at this?
The Lord is ONE,Cornel. Not 3 or 2. Orthodox jews cannot step into a church because they are only allowed to go to houses of worship where the beleivers are NOT monotheists. Strange as it may seem, that kind of only leaves a mosque open to them aside from synogogues. According to Jews, Christians are not monotheistic.
Is that going to start another rant? Just an interesting aside.
How about , God is None.Stop already.

RE: Make Image Props
It sounds like you want to use it as a SketchUp Component not an "Image Prop" which is a VectorWorks" term, yes?
Anything you download directly into you model will be a component. It sounds like what you did was download and "save" to disk. Then opened the file in SketchUp. Because every component IS a SketchUp model, openining it in SketchUp will allow you to see it as a model. To use it as a component you can either "import" it as a SketchUp model and then you will see the bounding box around it, or alternatively you can create a folder where you keep all of your downloaded components and then add that folder as library to your component browser. Doesn't happen automatically.
Window>Components> and from the window look for the little chevron on the right side next to the library name drop down. As you hover over it, it says "Details" click on that and then click on Add Library to Favourites. That will allow you to navigate to the folder and add it. Then you can get at the contents of the folder from the component browser and just bring it in from there and make any edits you want.
