    • RE: Mon$anto vs. Mother Earth

I'm an old man now and can't really change these things (I guess I never could). IMO The world has evolved backwards in many ways before my eyes in the past 60+ years. I don't know how far backward it is going to slide and I won't be here to see it. I can say that the biggest disappointment for me has been "democracy" and "free enterprise". This has unleashed an army or predators willing to do anything legal to make money. Next would be the continued proliferation of strange ideology and religion. If both of these things were eradicated the world would have a chance.

Our redemption appears to be in their self-destruction as is becoming evident. Democracy and free-enterprise are now loosing the race. The largest driving economies on earth are no longer democratic. If you still think this is the case then you better take a fresh look. The most diabolical aspect of this is the term "free enterprise" were the worst of tyranny can be found and were nothing is free. A place where people are enslaved for life.

So I would not worry about Monsanto. The people are coming! I just wish I was here to see Monsanto drawn and quartered.

ps: another disappointment: Tomatoes are not tomatoes anymore. I haven't tasted a good one since I was 10 years old.

Just in case anyone was distracted by that last post. Here is a taste of one of those micky mouse animations with stock Lumion.

" I would need to show the truck moving forward, the brushes moving in on the side of the truck, wheels turning if possible."

Yes all those things are easy to achieve. Like anything else we do I will go through a few iterations before I am satisfied. I would rate their object animation at a good solid 7 out of 10.

You just need to send me the skp and I can do the rest. There is an exporter for Lumion 5 to SU. 3.2.1 you simply export to file and then open so it is a manual process but just one extra click. If you see changes you want to make you just send me the edited file and I will reload. It is very easy to work many iterations.
These animations render in minutes not hours so again re-cooking is just a push of a button.

I am very busy at the moment so after Christmas if possible is best for me. If you need it before that I am still willing to get it done.

"Are you saying that you bought and then sold a Lumion license again? How did you sell it?"

I see licences on sale at the Lumion forum posted by members. I have not sold mine but when I didn't upgrade last time one of the support staff sent me a note saying I could sell if I wanted.. I will be moving to pro 5. At the moment I am still at version 3.2.1. I am a pretty small company so like you I am waiting till I have a fund built up to move ahead. I will be going to 5 as soon as I can. For sure the new year.

"It does look impressive but I'm pretty scared of forking out 1500 euros if I'm not going to get it back again...."

I like the Lumion guys (owners/developers) a lot and I try when I can to sell their product. Not for money but because I want them to prevail. I don't think you will want your money back if you are going to continue to visualize things....(but wait!)

"Roughly how long did it take to set up that animation?"

I did not fib..it took less than 5 minutes to do this so to get it looking real cool probably a couple of hours.
Tell you what. You complete the model and I will animate it for you. I don't think you should be under pressure to buy anything. Next time you can buy it and do it yourself.
I wouldn't volunteer for this unless it was easy.

      Cheers!

      p.s. thanks for the tip

I have a suggestion re your questions. I'm sorry I don't know thru paint. It might be easier to help you if you describe what it is that you are trying to achieve. You are describing your methods but often not the purpose or result. So far you have been getting great advise from everyone so who am I to talk.

I guess what I am getting at is there are many rubies and often it is unproductive to use some because they are not suited for the purpose you hoped they were. It would be better to describe your project/object in detail and show examples of what you want to achieve. So people can direct you to the most effective method before you start to employ the wrong method or tool. Some times there are native methods that will prevail as well and they are overlooked because of our tendency to look for an outside solution in a ruby.

It could be done in Lumion. Lumion is going to cost money but it is an investment your company can recover as it can be sold at anytime at it's retail value.

(....and it took me all of 5 minutes to do this)

I have just thrown around a bit of water spray so this is primative but with time you can emulate anything with the water effects. I tried the code supplied to embed but it is a mystery to me to so here is a link instead.....cheers!

    • RE: Cryptolocker [DANGER]

Our offices and staff have used windows to defend windows (seems simple doesn't it?) for the past 8 years. Since we kicked out the third parties (security experts..lol) there have been no issues at all. There are two groups of people having issues with windows security, people who don't use windows, and people who use it and insist on using products other than those developed by windows to maintain it.

    • RE: Feel free to kick hard....

I liked the in-your face design and the in-your face picture. I personally am tired of the shirt/tie faรงade that is a sign that other things underneath are unreal. Free enterprise has made us the greatest fakers in the world.

Some might have trouble with the large print and open spaces. I guess it is a result of the web builder/tool using the same code pages with different css to get the page to fit any size real-estate.

Best to see it as two different platforms and build two different front ends that will redirect to the right code depending on what kind of device is calling.

      Nice images!

If there is a mesh being cut or intersected it helps you to select cleanly if you turn hidden geometry off. Things might not fall apart this way.
