Years ago, I mean many, I worked for an engineering and architecture firm that designed the original "Inn of the Mountain God's" for the Mescalero Apache tribe in New Mexico. The Tribal chairman's wife had some ideas she wanted incorporated into the window drapes. To mock up the design we wrapped a piece of 3/4" plywood with canvas and silk screened the design onto the canvas surface. The canvas shrank so tightly that the plywood broke. Admittedly, we were prototyping and experimenting, but consider shrinkage when the adhesive meets the material and don't underestimate the power of shrinking cloth.

The see through bathtub works well with the candles. Add a little wine and some flamenco playing over hidden speakers.

RE: Bullion
Take a look at this military challenge coin and see what you think of SketchUp's capability for your bullion project:

They've either been for too boring or in the case of the prison far to sensitive to show.
This is a little something I'm having fun with for my own self gratification, can you guess what it is?You said it yourself. It is a self-gratification machine.

Yes ROGER, I feel atraction... if you by ferrous mean girls. Hahaha
Interestingly Im playing with two neodimium rings right now!
Anyway... Everyone call me Neo (from my real name Neno), but Neo is toooo short. This is neodymium at work. I inserted it into the head of my cane. In the US it works great as all wall corners and window frames have ferrous metal beading to make the plastering of wall board (gypsum board) fast and efficient.
In Thailand it did not work as well because of different building methods, but I was still able to find a place to hang my cane.

RE: Designer's Block
I once worked for a guy that confused copyright with copy writing. Of course he was right because he was a VP.

RE: Anyone have experience with this roof membrane system?
Regarding a bigger shell structure. This system was designed by Billy Woods of Dynadomes.
I filmed the building of this structure in 1970.
And it still stands.
I think it also appeared in Stewart Brand's book "How Buildings Learn."
I sent you an SKP of the connector system.

Use the push/pull tool while holding down the control key. And try the introductory tool tutorials. It will save you a lot of time.

RE: Anyone have experience with this roof membrane system?
I am in the process of buying a house with an aging roof membrane. I got the seller to rebate about half the cost quoted by a roofer. As you come up with roofing solutions please pass them on to me. Neptune seems like a good product, but they don't look like they sell on the retail level.

RE: Modeling space frame
Eric, what I learned from the video was not so much the geometry, but the value of stopping and thinking about your workflow before starting. That was very useful.

Here is a quick go with Photoshop and Dave's rendering. Posted with his permission of course.
That is pretty close to what I had in mind. Nice word to the Dave/Eric team.

RE: Render Question
Model the tabletop surface instead of using a bump map. Also light from the top left rear (shadow cast forward) and set up a reflector off camera to bounce light back into the resulting dark front of the box.
Trust me.

RE: Glass Block Study
To be perfect the glass block would need a little optical twisting (ripple)in the middle of each block.
