yes I spoke too soon, loading extensions into V8 may be tricky as they may be for a later version. I got the dreaded bug splat which locks you out badly if you get caught. reinstallting v* doesnt help as evils are still lurking and have to be removed. I found some rogue etxensions I had wantonly installed. I had to dig in an removed the rbzs before I could get V8 up running again - that was a scary momemnt. Google installer has an auto update checker. This needs to be disabled somehow or you may get another unpleasant surprise. I dont trust these big corps. They want to clickbait you into a subscription or they may sabotage your freebie make. Anyone know how to disable updates on v8 (with W11) @TIG

I am using Windows 11 and no trouble using SketchUp Make 2017 what so ever, even just yesterday I was using SketchUp straight for 7 hours with only a mother nature break and getting coffee, never a problem. The finished model I was working on was only: Materials: 10 Polygons: 30,208 File Size: 6MB But that was after running CleanUp3, so even more polygons. But my laptop is only 3 years old, so maybe more stable in Windows 11, and compatibility with SketchUp Make 2017 may be better. SO I have no idea why its happening to you, sorry. Hi thanx for the heads up, I thoought I was probably being simplistic Its a pity that SUC does allow more realistic FB to developers. Some of the stuff is brill and I would give 5* But I am strictly on the geometric solids/eng side and SU is mainly for graphics and visualisers I guess

@robint said: Files from 2016? I didnt think I ever used 2016 unless its very very recent and I DIDNT UPLOAD ANYTHING so how can you see these files? Is there some intrusion into my pc I dont know about To put your mind at rest, there is no intrusion into your computer, you simply need to look at your earlier posts. You posted multiple times in a MSPhysics thread and uploaded several files. https://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=323&t=56852&p=611559#p611559 When I open those file they tell me they were made using 2016. [image: K1VE_2016.PNG] So I was just trying to work out if you needed a new version of an old version or a version to reinstall what you already had. Because 2017 Make would be the easiest available, but If you did need 2016 because you have an older OS then I would have given you a link to download the older 2016 Make. But if you had it on your computer previously I would have suggested you could look for your original install file. Simply put, giving full and accurate information an up to date profile and avoiding vague references, along with explaining your needs clearly, helps us answer your questions with the most accuracy. No doubt some will think this post impolite, but I'm just trying to help make things clearer.

@robint said: when I try to input say accel or a controller name , it accpts them but doesnt do anything - no slider in the run panel To get a slider, you need to use the format "slider("<slider_name>")". In your case it will be "slider("accel")". If it is a variable that you want to put in, then you must first set the variable to some number, because sometimes the variable will be ignored if it isn't set as something. I THINK this happens because when dealing with joints, a number is required, and because a variable usually assumes "null" as it's value at first (null means nothing), the joint doesn't use it. Setting the variable is known as "initializing" the variable. Remember this because there will be some errors describing an uninitialized variable. Hope this helps, Chris

@jim4366 said: This is one way to make a tetrahedron from scratch. Without a plugin. It seems that if the angle resolution is 1000 segments per quarter circle or better, it works. Same basic idea folding up a pentagon will make a dodecahedron. Using a drawn technique will always give some inaccuracy - although 1000 segments will often give a good enough result! Here's the mathematical way... The height of a tetrahedron with sides 1 unit long is 0.8164965809 units. This is 'simple' similar-triangle + Pythagoras way, with lots of sqrt(3) etc: see below... Draw the tetrahedron as a flat 2d shape scaled so the sides are 1 unit long. Draw the 3 intersecting lines from apex to mid-point of each side. Erase unwanted bits. Move Tool with nothing selected pick 'center' - which will be the apex when relocated. Pick the Vertex at the center and move up in blue [z] constrained with Shift-key. Type in 0.8164965809 [=(sqrt(2.6666666666667))/2]. The tetrahedron is now almost complete. Draw over an edge to make the base-face form. Use 'reverse' on any face so it's 'out' and then use 'orient' so all other faces match. Treble click to select all, make a Group of it. Edit the group and use the Tapemeasure tool to pick two Vertices [these are currently 1 unit apart] and type in the desire size for the sides of the final tetrahedron; confirm when warned and the whole group is rescaled to that side-size... Done.[image: NoNG_Capture.PNG]
