RE: Pasting other images on top of sketchup image
hi,
Your welcome to SCF and hope u enjoy learning how to use SU7. As for you request, I'm a little confused as whatvyour attempting.
You can EXPORT your model in many different image formats that Word will accept.
You're adding pictures from Xcel to a Word document containing an exported image from SU7 after editing them in GIMP. Is that correct?
Have you looked on the 3d warehouse for anything that might help so all your work is on one platform.
Try posting an image of what you're doing so members can advise on the best steps to take.
Sorry I wasn't more helpful but you'll find lots of good advice here. You're current method of workflow seems a little muddled without more info or image to better explain.

RE: "Villa for Two" v-ray renderings
Great concept, tasty renders and looks like a lovely place to live.

RE: Looking for a metal box
Hi,
That 2mm Aluminium would do the job. As for designing the box, that would be the easy part, it's the fabrication that'll cause the real hear scratching!
But if you go with the "make you own" method, give me a shout if your stuck. Bending metal is part of my working day and I even have formulas for flat patterns.
I think I'm what you call old school

RE: Looking for a metal box
Hi,
If you need to have a very precise size or would like it to be a precise size. And you're good with your hands. Where I work there lots of sheet metal discarded daily. All you need is shipping costs. Or it's probably cheaper to fly ryanair!
Anyway it's an option if you're really stuck for particular size.

RE: Making SU files smaller
Hi,
Have you purged the model for unused materials? And did you make components and groups? That's where I find the biggest size reduction lies but if the textures you used are high res you might find that they might need some altering on Gimp or Photoshop
why don't you upload the model and members can look to see the problem?

RE: Human figures
Hi Justry,
That's very impressive modeling. I wouldn't know where to start with such complex shape.
But they do say women are difficult to understand

I apologise to all female (and male) members for such a lame joke but i couldn't resist

RE: Blacksmith shop (Final render)
Hi Roberto,
I love your posts but what are they used for? Is it for a game? Also where do you source your textures from?

Indigo Error
Hi,
Here's the error
Error: SceneLoaderExcep: ModelLoadingStreamHandlerExcep: UV set with index 1 was exposed, but the UV set data was not provided. (In element 'mesh', around line 6, column 9)
Does anyone have experience of this?
I read on Indigo Forums about UV Settings but i only installed it today as i'm trying it out and have no experience with the UI?

RE: Suggestion for how to help New Users
Hi,
that's a great idea and I hope it's taken up. Personnally I feel that Rubys which are considered essential to me might have no relevance to others. How would we decide which 10 are best for new users if we don't know the new users workflow?
Maybe some simple tutorials with the rubys in use? There is a tutorial on desiggning furniture which show good use of 2 rubys and more like it would help new users develope better understanding of what each particular ruby can do.
When I first started to use rubys I found that I'd install , see what it was like then forget about it. Then realise I needed a ruby for particular task and search only to find out I had it already!
I'm sure there are many more dumbasses like me out there who found it tuff at the start but with each error came enlightenment.
Where am I going with this rant?
Basically I agree and think a tutorial based introduction to commonly used rubys would help new users and maybe issue challenge once tutorial is issued for new users show off their new fuubd skills. Part of the tutorial would include instructions on installation also as some find it daunting enough to mess with their new SU Pro software licence

RE: Growing a plan
hey, that's sure a great concept. Love to know how you did this? But realize you a busy guy. Thanks for the post all the same
Is Vue better the VRay? I've got VRay and find it hard to operate. Even after following all the tutorials on the forums? Guess I'm not meant to render
