RE: Any New Yorkers out there want to come to Maker Faire?
Would be great but it's a little out of my reach... perhaps if there was a UK fair I'd be very interested

RE: Abandoned Housing Site.
Hey guys. Not much to show. Started a new Job on Monday so been very busy.
Just a few wee objects and an extension "built" on top.

RE: Paper Structures
Great video + Great architect.
To be the only one back in the 80's making buildings out of paper must've seemed mad to everyone... now it's becoming more important.

RE: Sketchothic (Tutorial Video Request)
Have you looked at the Tuts on here?
Modelling a Gothic Window #1 | SketchUcation
This SketchUp tutorial is the first in the series about Gothic architecture. Now we shall only model the basic opening, the splayed embrasure, a basic frame and create the necessary components so that the window will cut holes into walls later correctly.

Gothic Window #2 - A Simple Tracery | SketchUcation
In this SketchUp tutorial, we are going to add a simple tracery - practically a sort of mullion division in "Perpendicular Style" where only the top part of the tracery will be a little bit more complex.

Abandoned Housing Site.
Started off with the bottom corner. A few walls and a little "shed" Thought it would be cool to expand on this and create a housing site that would have been abandoned.
What I mean is :
Finished or partly finished houses. (Exposed timber kit, Uncompleted roofs)
Damage... Lots and lots of damage. ( Walls missing. Timber damaged and Corrugated Roof Dmg)Basing the walls and courtyards on a Call of Duty map back in 2009.
Want to make this kind of middle eastern as well so there will be rocks, rubble etc. That is why I am wanting to get used to SketchyPhysics but the problem is I have to keep exporting to SU8
Few Attachments guys.

Can you post more pics?
Going to put this on the back burner for now. Might upload the file but I've started a few other models...

SketchyPhysics Help?
Hi all.
Would anyone be able to point me towards a tutorial for using SketchyPhysics to drop objects naturally on the ground.
For example, I have a plane full of rocks that I want to place above the ground plane of my model and drop so that when they fall they all could potentially land differently.
thanks for any help guys!

RE: Warehouse Facility.
So here is where I am today.
Been looking at some more "misc items" to populate the model.
Got a cool looking Russian truck and modeled my own Container. Few pallet trucks and one awesome looking forklift.
Couple of pallet racks.
Wire and Cable Spools.Looking at some cranes and don't know whether it's worth modeling one or finding one...
Near finishing now guys as It can't take anymore.
If anyone wants this model to play around with or texture then let me know.

Little container madness.
So yeah, It's late at night and I was pulling my hair out over some containers I was modelling.
My weird side took over and I decided to build this. A fort/small level/container mania. Just took one container and modified it a few times. (One has two sets of doors (both open), One has one door and the back cut out, one has two sets of doors (1 of each open) etc etc)
Wanted to share it before I collapse into a dreamless sleep

RE: Warehouse Facility.
Ooops! cannot believe I forgot about them. Will definitely check out some images for them.
I've not really had much of a reference on height so I'm just going by the warehouses and factories around my area which are 4 or 5 metres high (pretty small though )
The containers are my biggest problem. I have to hide them every time I go on to other things as it slows SketchUP down so bad.
Playing around with little containers right now.
I think once I have finished the entire model I will import into Unity and do a walkthrough recording of it to see what it's like...
Thanks Bryan!

RE: Warehouse Facility.
Really need some ideas guys. Was going to make a few trucks or trailers to put in here but I do not know.
Does anyone have some suggestions? last photo in OP is where I am right now.
Also... was going to make the buildings interiors so that it would be a larger area but I am again not quite sure

Good top quality Renderers for Sketchup
Hi all, Please remove this if this has been answered before.
I am looking for a good renderer for sketchup, Currently using Brighter3D. It's good but kind of basic.
So I'm asking for all your opinions on what to get?
Plug-ins and external Render Engines are welcome.
Did a quick search on here and I don't think I found anything asking this
Google is pretty outdated with most links up to 2011..
Thanks for any response guys!
Scott.

Warehouse Facility.
Hi all.
Been working on the a new model the past few days. Not really got any reference images so just kinda combining stuff in my head.
Finished model should include a container yard, waste area loading bay. If anyone has any things that think would look good then let me know.
Will be a slow project as more detail slows my laptop right down
C&C welcome please.
Scott.
[EDIT] Added Images.

RE: Sci Fi project.
Disaster happened....
I had to restore my laptop to factory setting and lost everything
So I have to start again. Here is another concept of a sci-fi door.
Yes it's on sketchup but I don't know how to change the materials included in the model so it just shows as black.
The door has a more detail and is not completely smooth..
Going to start some more vents and floor panels next week.Enjoy!

RE: Sci Fi project.
Thanks for the comments guys, decided that I didn't like this door. It was too... edgy
Didn't have the full scene with it as I only bothered to model from the front.
BUT...
New scene started tonight. The door was one I found on google images and modelled from that. Going for the "alien" look with the padded walls. Will finish this scene and post on sketchfab for definite.
Here is the first rough model...

Sci Fi project.
Hi guys, Started on a Sci Fi door yesterday.
Can't model too much in one go as I'm using a laptop, but focusing on the modelling right now as my rendering is terrible lol ( anyone know any good tuts or videos to help me? )
Anyway.... tell me what you think!

RE: Links for Texture Sources
Added more textures to my collection so here is most of them. still tuning the ratios etc. and I hope to me adding more again soon.
brick
metal
vegetationp.s the metal textures.skp says "metal" for some reason,it is NOT. It is more brick texture.
thanks guys
