Thanks for the suggestions Rich and John.

The door would be grounded so to speak and would not be on a spaceship etc. I'm building assets that will populate my scene, Which will be a "Dark Sci fi/ Apocalyptic building.

I had the idea from emergency doors but these have been reinforced with the plating you can see in the picture.

      Adjusted the normal map.

    • Dark Sci-Fi/Apocalyptic door.

Modeled in SketchUP and then exported to Blender to UV map and texture. I realise that the open door on the right should not open that way and instead should open outwards.

There are a few good, free render programs for Sketchup. Have a look at blender aswell..

I don't mind rendering your car in Blender just for you to see the effects. Of course I would not claim it as my own etc..

      Try TIG's "Weld" plugin.. http://sketchucation.com/resources/pluginstore?pln=TIG-weld

    • Plugin Information...

First of all, Apologies for the stupid topic name.. I cannot think of anything else πŸ˜†

I have created what is called a concrete divider. Made of concrete with some reinforced metal through it (rebar). I have not created the rebar yet but it will be pretty easy.

These pictures show it Modeled in SketchUP and rendered with textures in Blender.

My question is, Can I take this model with it's straight edges etc and create a more realistic model from it. I know how to subdivide etc but is there a plugin that can create vertices and edges on the model that would allow me to nip and tuck at it and create destroyed sections etc.

      Something like this...

Hope I'm clear enough guys, thanks!

I think they are there to hold the glass in place against the stairs... But that's just my opinion.

Have a look at http://cgtextures.com/ They have some decent textures.

As for the resolution of such. Look around at different renders. I use Maxwell myself (It's aesthetically pleasing and it allows "bump" values to be changed).

Or you can export your model to a different program such as Blender and use their node editor to combine Normals/Bump/Displacement/AO

can u help me create d textures to Maxwell materials please....thanks in advance

I'm just a beginner when it comes to texturing. Have a look here aswell if you don't want to create them. Hundreds of textures specifically for Maxwell all for free.

    • Stairs and Handrails References.

Found a great wee page that explains the proper dimensions and sizes for building Stairs accompanied with Handrails. In accordance with British Regulations.

I know I'm always needing extra help when I model these so I hope anyone else finds use in this... πŸ˜„

    • Sketchup App.

Been thinking about this for months now. An app for your smartphone that would be like logging onto the forums etc.

      Features could include:

Log in to Sketchucation for quick access to the forums and news etc on the move.
A wall ❓ (maybe) for users (logged in to avoid spamming) to post quickly like a "tweet" (less than 141 characters or something) so the wall could basically act like an off the topic corner bar.
Notifications when someone posts on the forum or posts on a topic (This could be configured in the settings to allow notifications for what you want etc)

Just off the top of my head guys, think it would be really easy for travelling or on the move you could just open the app and start helping out and posting (provided you have logged in before).

Let's get this ball rolling.. πŸŽ‰
