RE: [Plugin] UVTools 0.2 Pro (Beta) (Updated for SU6)
For the Crash on SU 8 you have to experiment with this steps also:
@olishea said:
use the paint bucket tool to roughly apply the texture to your object.....it will not look correct (dont worry). now select the object (just click its surface) and go to edit>surface>uv tools>then choose cylindrical or spherical map.
should be straight forward. you can change the scale of the texture in the sketchup materials window.
Another thing, Unselect the faces that does not have the texture.

RE: I hate snap!
It's good to know I don't have to shoot my computer.
Thanks Miguel. -
I hate snap!
Snap here, snap there!
I'm trying to draw some lines on a face, but the face is near some objects. Snaps here and there every time... blue axis, green axis, midle point, outer point, twilight zone... everywhere!Isn't a key I have to press (or a gun I have to buy) to avoid snaping and stick to the damed plane?
Ok. I'm less stressed now... Thanks.

RE: Numeric Values
San
I was afraid of that... No inspector.
Thanks for the videos. I'm now confortable using skp, and the pdf manual too, but an extra help is always wellcome. -
Numeric Values
Hi.
Is there any info panel (inspector if you wish) that gives the information of position, dimensions (xyz) and maybe rotation?
I want to move, scale and rotate by numbers, but the litle info panel seems only to function when drawing.Thanks.

RE: What's your beginners tip?
I'm a complete begginner, so here is my tip.
Sooner or later you will be using some plugins or ruby scripts.
Try one at a time, know what it does, and if it works for you, save a copy in an ordered folder.
You can always re-install the main aplication, but find again a usefull plugin may take time. -
RE: Edges to faces
Some feedback.
The first Ruby (Weld) aplyed before extruding its interesting but it leaves the segments (as seen with "view hidden lines" on)And the fix broken lines seems to work great in this case.
Massimo, the option of drawing a line is still resisting me I'll keep practicing, but I have my first favorite ruby now.
@Numbthumb. By all Kind of aplications (just an expression) im refering to vector based 2d, photo editing, video editing, audio and midi, multimedia authoring, worksheets, web authoring, some 3D. I remember a Dos batch program to make text based windows with options.

RE: Edges to faces
Thanks for the wellcome Ecuadorian. And for the responses Massimo, Numbthumb and Tig.
I'll be more active here, and I'll try to make less stipid questions each time .Edited. Damn, I thouight having a long experience in using all kinds of aplications would be always an advantage. "Draw a line" was not the logical step in my mind. My brain thinks in terms of Modify > Edges > Merge.

RE: Edges to faces
Wow, the redrawing the single little edge works great! Thanks both.
But the tools>utility>make face is not on my Skp7. Is it a feature on the Pro version or is it a ruby?
And here is a pre-quiestion
I imported a file, and the lines are segmented. As the concept of vertex seems "not native" of Skp, i cant figure out how to join this segments into a single line.
I deleted some edges and it works, but I don't know if im having some extra innecesary faces there. So this are probably 2 more questions.
How can I join colinear segments into one?
How can I see hidden faces/edges? (not wireframe view) -
Edges to faces
Hi all.
Finally I decided to learn sketchup. ok, here is the Q.I deleted the top face of this cylinder. I have selected the edges that are left.
How can I make the face(s) again?

RE: Farewell TrueSpace.
He-he, thanks!
I still be using True Space, and yes, it hurts.
But for your bad luck, maybe you will have to adopt me here! -
Farewell TrueSpace.
Hi guys, I know I don't post much in this Sketchucation forums, but I wanted to share this.
Pretty sad.
True Space, after 25 years to be in the 3D market is comming to an end.
Not many users, but a good comunity there.http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/showthread.php?t=8396

RE: 2009 Ottawa Yard Tractor- Finished
Try a render engine like Kerkythea http://www.kerkythea.net or Indigo http://www.indigorenderer.com
You install the render engine and a small plug in to conect it to sketchup. -
Grid or snap... anywhere?
Hi.
Is there any grid or snap option? To be able to make a wall 10 mts. not 10.0528 mts. You know what I mean. -
RE: Worth the effort - Rendering?
Hi. Kerkythea has options to make flythru animations. You can setup a lot of things directly inside Sketchup, and if you need some others in Kerkythea itself. Imho its verey a verey interesting option. I would recomend give it another try.
Indigo its an interesting option too, and its tuned inside Sketchup.(And if cash its not an issue consider donate a little to the free render engine you choose )

RE: Truespace
I think its a verey powerful but underestimated program. It would be nice that now that its free more users try it. It has boleans, metaballs, deformation tools, spinlines, some phisics...
