    • Apply logo texture

      Hi Guys,

I have a project I'm working on and I need to put a small logo in the top right corner of a panel and I can't for the life of me figure out how to do it. All I get is a tiled texture across the whole section which isn't what I want.

Does anyone know how to place an image onto a small section of a face as a texture? Has to be as a texture as I'll render it in hypershot.

      Any help appreciated.

Really really nice. Some rendered versions would look excellent I think.

      Hi Guys,

Hypershot render of a glass decoration. The inner surfaces are 2 different colours of a standard gold texture.

      Cheers,

      Hi Guys,

Still playing around in Hypershot. The model I made in about 20 mins, just something that happened to be lying around. I'm sure you all do have an abacus in your house..............don't you?!

Anyway, comments always appreciated as always.

      Cheers

    • 5min Pestle & Mortar - Hypershot render

Nothing special, literally 5 mins. The bowl top is low poly but just playing around with Hypershot. I've got to say I'm impressed with it so far. The interface is excellent and the output quality is great with good speed. Not cheap though!

      Cheers guys

Still amazed by the results you've managed to get. I'm beginning work on an Audi A3 today which is my first attempt at a car. I will post when I have something worth looking at.

Keep up the good work, I think when people don't speak it's because jaws have dropped at some of the things you've done here!

    • RE: Focke-Wulf FW 190 plane complete

Thanks for the comments guys. I'm still toying with what to do next. I think it will be a helicopter of some sort but I don't know what yet. This one is by no means perfect and I know now where I could have improved but it is a good base to work from.

I'm playing around with Kerkythea at the moment. Podium is an awesome product, don't get me wrong. It is so simple to use and create good renders from. However, I think by looking at the results some others have had with KT it is worth looking at in more detail. Can't argue with the price either!.

      Thanks again,

Very nice, good detail. It would look great with textures but like you say, hard to find good ones.

      Well done!

    • Focke-Wulf FW 190 plane complete

      Hi Guys,

This is the complete model now. When I learn how to make a nice propeller for it I'll add that on πŸ˜„

I've really enjoyed working on this. It's the first time I've done anything like it and it was great to practice new skills. The whole project was around 15 hours but if I had to do another one I'm sure I could do it in about half the time knowing what I know now.

There will be more to come, I'm looking for more blueprints to work from on another project. Perhaps sci-fi............ helicopter???

      Anyway, I hope you enjoy.

Rendered in Podium and the only ruby used was on the wing tips (soap skin). I just couldn't get the shape nearly right any other way. I wanted to use pure sketchup but frustration go the better of me!

That's an interesting way to do it, and really fast too. Thanks for your help.

Remus, that is fantastic. I'm going to give that a try now. Thank you for taking the time to reply. I look forward to your comments on the final model! This is my first time doing anything like this and it gets really addictive. Most of the modelling process I find very relaxing. Kind of like a sketchup meditation πŸ˜„

    • 2 questions - wing tips and rudders

      Hi Guys,

Some of you may have seen my WIP. I'm building a FW-190 (posted in the gallery) but I'm stuck on 2 bits. I've attached 2 images to show what I mean.

The wing tips need to be rounded and closed but I've no idea how to do it.

Also, when I render I want to see some lines. The best example is the rudder. It is the same colour but not part of the main body. I want to put a line in there (as I have done in sketchup) which renders. Can that be done? I use Podium.

      Thanks in advance.

A bit more detail. The rear wheel was a bit of a pain but got there in the end. Ignore the quality of the render, it will be much better on the final one. I just want to make sure things are looking ok when Podium does the business.

    • RE: How Healthy are YOU?

Glad to hear you're feeling better and on the mend. I have sympathy for you and trust me, I know how you're feeling. I had a bad motorbike crash when I was 21 (29 now) which tore part of my aorta leaving me with a bit of an emergency. I had major heart surgery to repair it through my back (they tell me it's the best way to get in!). Involves a cut from the top of your left shoulder all the way around under your left nipple before they separate your ribs take your left lung out, fix the hole in your heart, lung back in, then lots of staples...............Quite simple really!

I had never felt terror like it before......actually feeling like my life was going to end when I was 21.........and it nearly did. The support staff and nurses in the hospital in Leicster (UK) are simply amazing and made my recovery all the better.

It does make you sit up and think about life though for sure. I wouldn't change it though. It's made me a better person and I don't regret a moment of it. I think I'd be a very different person for the worst if it hadn't happened to me.

I do hope you find a bit of yourself you didn't know was there before........I know I did.

All the best, and good luck with everything.

      Hi Guys,

Very much work in progress but my first attempt at anything like this. Be prepared for some questions!

I'm quite pleased with it so far but still lots to do. I think the textures will be the bit that really has to be right for the final render.

I know there it a lot of reflection at the moment, just want to see any unwanted wrinkles.

      Comments welcome as always.
