k I think all the links are finally working, sorry for the confusion but I was trying to link something with better quality - veoh didn't turn out to be much better than youtube either, despite going pro.

Anyway it looks better on my computer, you'll have to take my word ๐Ÿ˜‰

      The wood material shows nicely.
You will agree with me that SU needs better ways to move the camera. I am struggling to make more realistic camera motion myself using the limited SU camera tools.
Vray is a good partner for animations. Too bad it doesn't take geometry changes per frame into account , making object animation a no-go unfortunately.

Neat stuff you're producing here. Thanks for sharing. ๐Ÿ‘

Thanks very much! Yup I agree about the camera in su alright. Your animations are totally flowing now though - maybe I should invest in animate (though can't really justify it) - I think i'll sit it out till whaat's plugin arrives ๐Ÿ˜’ Vray is really a great rendering package as well - I highly recommend it personally. Saw your thread on the agvis forum too, indeed it is a shame object animation is not taken into account with vray. I'm not finding it so easy to find the right HDRI's either, none of them really seem appropriate to spherical environmental mapping. Evermotion's free skies are the only images that I have gotten to look good so far. But i'll keep messin around anyway!

After seeing kwistenbiebel's nice animation the other day I had to give it a go. Got too carried away and pressed render too soon though. The end result could have been nicer but it's just a test
Please watch in high quality: http://www.veoh.com/videos/v15833271GYtT5T7B

    • RE: Scale Model Archviz animation [Update: bottom page1)

Fantastic once again. Interesting the way you change the shadows during the animation.. is it merely a matter of changing the sun position when creating each new scene tab? And a somewhat off topic, but is it possible to scale the size of the HDRI background or is it only possible to scale the model to suit the HDRI? Thanks for the great animations

That was on the verge of being totally realistic. The animation was much smoother than usual as well, how many fps? The combination of the HDRI and the ease of setting up the scale model look is very effective indeed. How long did it take to render in total, looks pretty long. great job anyway ๐Ÿ‘

    • HDRI test

Nothing special but my 1st successful attempt using a HDRI image in vray for su. Had tried before but the images always came out black. It turned out I needed to change the multiplier from the default 1 to 20000. Just nice to have a proper sky in sketchup and could compliment clay renders nicely due to the speed of output ๐Ÿ˜„

Very nice! Especially like the 2nd and 3rd images. The populated last image I'm not feeling entirely - the green sketchup bushes and figures detract from the realism imo. Great work overall

      Hi Princedragoncock (what's in a name ๐Ÿ˜„ ),

      That animation looks very good.
The zooming in on the teapot is even kind of scary.
One would expect zooming in even further and discovering a fantastic microscopic life in there ๐Ÿ˜‰.

Very decent vid. You scored points ๐Ÿ‘ .

      Regards,

Thank you kwistenbiebel ๐Ÿ˜‰ but now that you mention it, I did find something in there..

if yes, please, tell me where i can set the animation!
      THX!

      Elisei

Yes - go to output under options. Then select the animate checkbox. Then select frames per second. Then select output destination and save as jpeg. Render

Oh I somehow expected the displacement was going to be animated!!!

Nice job though! Do you mind me asking how long it took to render out each frame from Vray???

Yeah ideally i wanted to do that actually, but because I couldn't really get my head around how to achieve that, I decided to go down the more basic route instead. maybe next week..
It took 10mins to render each frame btw - set primary engine to irradiance map - speeds things up

Really taking sketchup to the next level. Not to cause offense to anyone at all, but if kwistenbiebel wasn't posting stuff like this, i'd have left for 3dsmax a long time ago.

    • RE: Vray Displacement Animation

Thanks remus, yeh the texture mapping messed up on the handle cause it's projected. I wanted to do a 360 of the teapot but it just wasn't possible. I still feel the image could have been displaced better, it still resembles a normal texture too much (but thats my fault for choosing the wrong texture). Still can't embed the video unfortunately..

600pics/3 hours=200 pics per hour= approx 1 pic every twenty seconds. Im no expert, but id say tis a bit ambitious to do that for 3 hours straight ๐Ÿ˜‰

well if all he wants is a stickman with no background then i'd say it's pretty doable, but then again i'm no expert either, nor do i feel like proving it ๐Ÿ˜‰

Do it old fashion style on a piece a paper, frame by frame - try for 10 frames per second. Then put them all into windows movie maker and set at 0.125 sec per frame - you will have an animation. 1 minute will take 600 pictures, about 3hrs work - probably less than a renderer imo
